Which head of state is trying to lock up political opponents, prevents vertical movement by creating tax relief for the ultra-rich, attempts to control the press (and identifies non-flattering news as “fake”), holds self-aggrandizing exhibitions on a weekly basis to entertain their subjects, attempts to mobilize the military against unarmed and impoverished people, and puts family members into key positions of power - particularly in underqualified ones.

Trump didn’t need to collude with Russia, he was just looking for tips on how to make his own version.

The article was about hockey though, and not politics. Melnyk’s actions are completely appaling and this is just another example of him resorting to thuggery to protect his image. Fake accounts supporting him??

I still can’t forgive him for when he claimed the city and fan base had stopped supporting him, and he would move the team because the fans hadn’t done enough for him. This was mere months after a fan literally gave him a liver, and saved his life, under the condition of anonimity simply asking that he “bring the cup to Ottawa”. I, personally, would have never had the fortitude to claim that the fans owed me anything if one of them had risked their own life to save me, but I suppose that’s why I’ll never be able to afford my own team...

Not as bad as you might think. A good young team is starting to take shape.

We understand that Melnyk has used the team as his personal piggy bank. He has borrowed heavily against the team and owes too much money. Hard for him to sell the team because of the total load of indebtedness he has put on the team.

Cannot prove it, but there is a rumour in local legal circles that the potential buyers of the team have already taken control of the debt (like when my father cosigned for me to buy my first car).

On the other hand, because the negotiations on LeBretton give Melnyk control over the beginning of construction...nothing will change in terms of ownership until the final approval is given.

Melnyk has actually been behaving over the last few months. This recent outburst I suspect is about his legacy. He is reminding folks of his early involvement with the team. As you can see nobody really cares. Everyone wants him to stay quiet and remain out of sight.

I do not think this is the right spot for political debate. Keep it simple, we talk hockey here. It is not important to us that Trump is a thug and a criminal. We don't care if he will serve out the last year of his term wearing an orange jump suit. We avoid making political judgements in favour of good old fashioned hockey opinions.

Not sure how Melnyk has hurt my feelings, but go ahead.

Getting to love this team.

I was so wrong on Tkachuck. I really wanted them to take Zadina. This kid is the real deal and he goes into the money zone and takes the abuse. White played really strong. Ceci played okay when paired with Chabot.

Chabot was on cruise control all night and he looks more comfortable every game.

I don't think we had a game all year last year that was as much fun as tonight's game.
