Hainsey is aging but I think he gets a bad rap, people look at his CF% etc for games and forget to see in a game like last night where he played 10mins 5v5 vs 1 of the best wingers in the game and their top line....and Dermott who i think's coming along nicely didn't play a shift against Hall. Hainsey seems to usually be in a good position and that helps make up for his speed. JMO

I respect your opinion. I was at the game last night (I’m fortunate enough to get to about 10/yr). While I do put a good amount of stock in the data - it is more objective than my eyes, I am going on what I’ve watched mostly. He is good on the PK. Towards the end of last year he seemed slower at getting to pucks and slower in moving them along. I put it down to being overworked. He seems to have only slowed just a hair more this year with age. I don’t hate him at all, just think he’d be more effective if played less or down a ccuple of pairs. I don’t blame him that he is, I believe, overused/overloved by his coach as a “Gud pro”. He does use experience and positioning to maximize his effectiveness despite slowing down. I see value in him too as almost a player coach and a good example to the younger players; so was Hunwick for a while. So I’m not trying to dump on him. I guess ideally I wish they had another solid RHD in the group so that he could fill a roll that isn’t so demanding and be even more of an asset. I think we have those players coming along in the system as I don’t see a good one who we can get in a trade without way overpaying.

Dubby was right.

The defends ain’t half bad...still needs another piece but the bad rap it gets is wrong.

I said it before the season, and I'll say it again - that piece is most likely already in the system. No sense overpaying for help on D.

Long ways away from being an impact. Dermott isn’t even there yet and it’s his second year on the Leafs.

Defense is born of hard work and commitment from all players on the ice. Its not a talent. Its teachable. Best way to improve the teams defensive is make it a team concept and commitment, not bringing in a guy like Joe Komisarek Schenn Pesce. Now scoring/offense....thats mostly talent and skill.

So what you're saying is that the guys with no talent and skill play defense?

I’m open to criticism from those trashing my Leafs Kings suggestion. The reality is the only “fair” trade scenario (if there even is one) for leafs fans is Nylander for Parayko which is not likely to happen.

Funny how we value Nylander so high (someone said stud another said mvp caliber) but I’ll bet none of you feel comfortable with his contract demand of $8 million the most common reasons being selfish, bum, hasn’t proved himself.news alert- Can’t have it both ways!
