They had some stretches like this last year. However this team needs some surgery. Taking the stars out of it, the rest of the team is dull, slow, and soft.

Maybe I'm just frustrated because of this game. Or maybe it's partially because I was hoping after us exiting the play offs early I wouldn't have to watch a lethargic lifeless penguins team this season. Or maybe just maybe it's because I feel JR let us down by making some substandard signings and not upgrading this team, by just adding some older veteran players at a cheap price instead of some young energy to this team. Regardless you are 100% correct. Make a move or 3 bring some players in who are fast and full of energy. It is one reason why I hoped we would sign or trade for some big names or even young talent this this offseason, because we look slow and uninspired.

Oscar Sundquist has 3 pts in 4 games with the Blues......This really is starting to look ugly. You can say make some moves, but what do the Pens have to offer that has any value at this point other than Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang?

Yeah I know I’m sure I’ll be shown I’m wrong by some stat but the general hunger just doesn’t seem to be there. I know it’s a long season and you can’t go balls to the wall every single night, but this team isn’t far from going down the same window shut path that the blackhawks are on.

I wouldn’t necessarily say they even have cap problems. They just don’t have enough guys actually contributing. They don’t have the speed to every loose puck and ability to swarm the puck carrier like in years past. The Schultz injury is a big hurdle, but the absolute voids that rust and hags are basically are a microsom of the season as a whole.

But why is that? What were the shots like? Were there other shots that aren't HDSC that were closer to goals.

Supporting your opinion by stating HDSC is stupid. It's been denied you do that previously though!

Plus little interesting fact - the Pens are 30th in goals off HDSC (All situations) 24th 5v5. They should be trying to increase that statistic if you are placing so much importance on location of shot. Not increase quantity - if you understand that?? (More shots = more goals right?)

So JJ with 2nd most toi for a Dman & no GA in a 1-5 spanking. Haters? Still his fault or are there other issues that might be a little more important?
