I don't know man, I don't see it. I'm talking largely about the supporting players. Cullen, Grant, Sheahan and Hornie are average to below average. Sprong and Guentzal are marginal. Simon is quick enough but not exactly a burner. I'd hang the effort issue on Rust (he's been disappointing).
I just hate how we get beaten to pucks by faster players. It's constant and I can't blame it all on effort. - madmike71
Guentzel is pretty quick. He’s not Hagelin or Kessel quick but he is definitely quick enough to keep up with Sid. |

There's definitely a good amount of speed in the lineup. Could they use more? Sure, but I think the effort needs to be there more than adding speed. |

I honestly don’t think the Pens roster is that bad when healthy. There’s only a few roster spots that could use upgrades. Maybe 2 at most. Maybe 3 depending on your opinion of Oleksiak. But he’s an okay bottom pairing guy. |

They've shown time and time again when they bring 100% effort for 60 minutes they win. |

To my eyes Rusty has lost a gear. Especially on take off. He's still fast though, I just think he used to be swifter. |

I agree. Not much we can do to seriously upgrade the team when Shultz is back. The blue line is what it is. I would like to see ZAR or Teddy B get a call up soon to push Cullen out of the lineup though. When we signed him I was worried this would happen. He should be treated as a 13th forward at this juncture of his career. Not a full time 4C. Sheahan is the paragon of 4Cs, why are we letting broke down Cullen do that job? |

That’s the beauty of the 13th forward. You get all that leadership without having to actually play him. |

I agree, but I don't know how he could lose a gear at his age. That's why I wonder about effort with him.
I'm just a little concerned with how pedestrian our bottom 6 looks through large stretches of the game. If you're not scoring you need to do other things.....pretty much like Hags. I guess Brass will help when he gets back. |

I'd really like to see Cullen or Grant come out and give someone like Haggerty a shot. |

I'm not worried about Rust. He seems to be a 2nd half of the season type of player. |

Cullen is trash. I honestly can't believe they brought him back. Shoulda brought Kunitz back instead. Not that he's having the best year production wise, but at least he can still help drive play and isn't always buried in his own zone. - j.boyd919
Ryan Wilson, that you?
lol
"Another subpar move for this offseason. Matt Cullen was a great addition for the two years he played for Pittsburgh previously. He’s completely shot now....If the team wanted nostalgia and locker room intangibles Chris Kunitz at 1M for one year like he signed in Chicago would have made a lot more sense." |
