Sheary with 2g in his last 34 playoff games playing predominantly on Crosby's wing. Rust does other things when he's not scoring. When teams play Sheary tight and knock him around he evaporates like water in the Atacama desert.

Yeah I like Rust over Sheary. I think Rust is stronger on the puck and battles with a little more nose for the net. Good PKer too.

It doesn't get better.

Yeah thats ok. I dont think his play has dropped off a cliff or anything and have seen some fine opportunities for him to have more production so far. I think his production will uptick.

Ditto. He's a swiss army knife kind of player. I agree with Rino that he'll pick it up as the season goes along. I kept hearing how well his camp was going and expected a stronger start. It's way to early to worry about him. He's always going to be a streaky player.

Believe what you want. Teams figured him out. Play him tight and hit him as soon as he touches the puck and he coughs it up every time. Would I rather have him on the team over players like Cullen, Grant and JJ...of course. I hoped Rutherford would have spent that savings differently.

The thing is that the reports out of camp were super bullish on pretty much everyone. The Simon-Brassard-Rust line was apparently unstoppable. Oleksiak looked like the best D man on the ice. Johnson apparently was solid and was about to prove the haters wrong. Sprong was ready for a break out. Cullen looked like his old self and was gonna have a bounce back year after bathing at the fountain of youth.

Exactly none of those reports ended up being true.

Did you see the interview with Backstrom when he said that when Trotz said something to the whole team like "you guys lose because you let Connor Sheary win battles and push you around" something clicked with them. He was crediting that speech as basically a turning point for them last season haha.

I did see that. I laughed because it's 100% true. They clobbered Sheary last year.....although they were tough on everyone.

Any word on Brass' injury? He's the guy that needs to raise his game. His entire stint here as been underwhelming to say the least.

But models can't forecast poop. In the business world you gotta go with your gut, not predictive trends or else you won't get very far.

Didn't you want to spend more money on Calvin DeHaan? He said playing on a pretty slick offensive team isn't he. Just a point, how is he going points wise?

If you're going to do a defensman report, how are the others going?

By pretty much every single point of evaluation, including the rube stats you like such as plus/minus, DeHaan is having a better season than Johnson. Not living up to his contract, but if you're gonna over pay a defenseman to play the bottom pairing, still give me DeHaan any day of the (frank)ing week.

Who says I like plus minus?

Déhaan isn't worth the money either. That's my point & JJ even has more points than him. So there's that. Still early though.

Edit: DeHaan getting 20% higher ozs than JJ with similar shots totals. So even with the help De Haan gets at this stage his offense is worse. Also if JJ is starting more in his own zone then chances are his stats will be worse with the type of turnovers the Pens get some games. Also having that 1 game with such bad GA numbers, it's going to skew the stats as well. But yes, we should have paid more money for De Haan is what you are saying?

The Blackhawks jersey was voted the players favorite, also Geno's: "Growing up I had Colorado and Detroit, my two favorite teams, but Chicago is [a] pretty good [jersey]. I love Pittsburgh, but if you say second one, it's Chicago." https://www.nhl.com/news/...rite-uniforms/c-301475602

So I was looking up each player to see which pick they were drafted (Johnson 3rd overall Dehaan 12th) just to throw in some sarcasm comment lol. But then I came across on Wikipedia that Johnson's name is...John Joseph Louis "Jack" Johnson III. Is that (frank)ing real lol?

JMO, the red Hawks jersey is by far the best jersey in the league.
