I think I left it in my ice palace next to my robe and wand. I'll try to get back there next week if I can get a ride from my invisible dragon.

Do you really have an invisible Dragon?

I would love to know what Toronto is really asking in value for him, not speculation, but the real value.
- Glak18

I'd have to imagine it's some combination of youngish (under 25) top-6 forward, youngish top-3 defenseman, and a 1st. I don't think the Flyers have all of those pieces to give.

I would trade Simmonds in February even if we were miraculously leading the Metro.

Have you actually watched the games this year? Gudas has been great so far. Simmonds has been completely invisible, only becoming visible for the wrong reasons for his pathetic defensive play and when he puts home an easy tap in goal. His toughness would be missed but then again he hasn’t had any fights yet this year to get the guys motivated. Once Morin is on the team that toughness will be easily recovered.

So you can’t trade Voracek and Giroux’s 80 points (even though Giroux had major down years before his his 100 point season) but you can trade Schenn and Simmonds away, even though Simmonds and Schenn were the goal scorers?
- SuperSchennBros

Giroux and Voracek create the plays for players like Simmonds and Schenn to score goals. Take Giroux and Voracek type players away from Simmonds and Schenn and see how much big plays they create on their own, I'd be willing to bet it isn't that many. They are good players but they aren't in the same realm as Giroux and Voracek.

Career highs in goals

Simmonds - 32 goals
Schenn - 28 goals

Couturier - 31 goals
Giroux - 34 goals

If you score less, means you are the goal scorer. Facts.

Do you own an invisible TV because Nylander isn’t the Leafs third line center just like Primeau wasn’t our second line center during 2003-04.

However, nothing over the past 6 years gives me hope that G, Jake and Simmonds will deliver us a cup.
- Cootehill

You don't abandon your best players, you build around them. G and Voracek are two of the best forwards in the NHL. Are they perfect? No. But neither are any of the other stars on other teams.

Backstrom and OV had their leadership doubted for years before they were able to get over the hump. You can bet a lot of their fans wanted to start over b/c they felt that their stars would never beat Crosby/Malkin.

Yzerman was in Detroit for what, 13-14 seasons before the Wings won the Cup? Everybody looks back at him as this great leader, like success was inevitable. They totally forget that he was once seen as a guy who padded his own stats and couldn't help the Wings win.

Then they hired Bowman, brought in the Russians, traded for Shanahan, and *poof* Yzerman suddenly looks like a much better leader and the team wins.

Scapegoating the stars is pretty stupid, especially when G and Jake are a couple of the hardest workers on the team. Again, they are not perfect, but that's where you need coaching and the team's architect to step in and give them the support they deserve.

The cap appears like its going to keep going up so yes I would. Not to mention the Flyers have a bunch of cap space. Patrick would be like 21 or 22 at that time I believe as well so chances are he gets even better. I guess its a risk but it's one I would take.

I disagree, Voracek is not one of the hardest working players on the team.

Giroux's down years were all injury related. Schenn is a good complimentary piece, he is not a core member of a team. The Schenn trade was made because Hextall liked Frost.

Simmonds is not a piece that helps us. He scores goals on the powerplay. Its something anyone can do, JVR can easily fill that spot once healthy. There are better goal scorers out there that we can get. Im sure if there was a large demand for Simmonds, he would have been traded already.

That might happen, that might not. It's really the scary thing with this team. How do they react to another new coach? What would they get for Simmer?

Or do they do plan B

Trade Voracek and Simmer and keep Hakstol around and hope that G, Coots, Provorov, Ghost all return to their usual selves quickly.
