Sergei Fedorov was a whining primadonna who held out. I'll take a team full of him, please. - jmatchett383
I'm not sure I would put Nylander in with Fedorov yet. I do remember he got that massive contract that year and I believe won the cup (with a stacked Detroit team). I don't remember him being worth that contract years after though. |

I think it's time to move on from all 3 of these guys. We haven't been past the 1st round in 6 years. We're a very average team to slightly above average team and I don't see it changing a lot either. Does anyone think that this team with G and Jake can win a cup? I could be wrong, but I don't. - Cootehill
I think they can and the reason is by the time the Flyers will be contending for a cup G and Voracek will still be good players but in depth roles and not the main contributors to offence on the team as they are now. I expect them to be the depth to the future forward core of Patrick, Konecny, Frost, Lindblom, Farabee etc |

It’s February. We’re in a playoff position. Where should all the trade Simmonds talk be? |

I’m sorry if it wasn’t worded to your liking, giving you an opportunity to nitpick but this is all that matters. I mean, who has been the least healthy of Giroux, Voracek and Simmonds?
Everyone knows Zetterberg and Datsyuk were amazing for Detroit for years but they still needed Holstein to be a success. - SuperSchennBros
I don't know who Holstein is. I was just pointing out that he is not their leading goal scorer every season. That's all, didn't mean to start World War 741 with you on here. Lighten up dude. |

Sergei Fedorov is probably the most underrated hockey player on my life. He was like Pavel Datsyuk, just better at everything. Once he went to Anaheim, he just didn't have it any more, but he'd basically won life at that point (it was after the 1st Cup).
Just pointing out that, just because a player holds out doesn't mean he doesn't care or isn't good. Now, Yashin, on the other hand.... |

Could these future stars be as good or better than the likes of...
Giroux, Jagr, Briere, Hartnell, Voracek, Van Riemsdyk, Simmonds Couturier and Read?
Or...
Richards, Carter, Briere, Gagne, Hartnell, Lupul, Knuble and Umberger? |

They intimidation is overrated. For anyone to say this, never played hockey. You could have possibly played hockey if you don’t think intimation doesn’t give you an edge over other teams.
Sheesh, it’s like Philly flu never happened. - SuperSchennBros
In today's NHL intimidation and fighting is overrated as fighting in general is down. The Philly Flu is such a long time ago, completely different league now. I've been playing hockey for 18 years now, not sure how that is relevant. |

Wow you are an optimist? This team won't be in playoff position until March unless they decided to get their heads out of their asses. |

Yes. They could be, they could not be. I didn't bring my crystal ball with me, though, so I can't say for sure. |

Because March is trade deadline time. That’s why I asked the question. It’s not that hard to figure out. It’s also October, and were slow to start Every year. |

I forgot a word in my post. That word being late. As in they won't be in playoff spot until the last week of the regular season. They will have no clue where they will be at trade deadline time. Good luck Hextall. |

Teams have a pretty good idea of where they stand by February. Are you going to be buyers or sellers. |

Well you could very well be right and I hope you are cos all I want to do is win a cup. However, nothing over the past 6 years gives me hope that G, Jake and Simmonds will deliver us a cup. I fear another few seasons of early playoff exits with these guys. Its enough to piss you off really. |

I understand there have been examples of great players holding out...but the Nylander situation is a bit different. The rumors are he wants a huge demand (last I heard 8.5M per), everything being done is being dictated by the father and he wants a NTC (even though a RFA can not get one).
Could you imagine the team, especially if it was the Flyers, traded for this kid giving up assets and paying all that money just to see Nylander starts off slow from holding out and only becoming a 60 point forward? I would be pissed as a fan.
If he came to the Flyers I would want nothing less than a 90 point consistent scorer. If he could do that, why is Toronto not jumping at the chance? It is NOT because they have Marner and Matthews to sign. |

OK, so as a competitive hockey player in your 18 years, you have never been aware of guys that are tough to play with or against. You don’t have to be aware of certain guys on the ice. You’ve never been intimidated,In any sport that you’ve ever played? Never? |

I think it's exactly that, Matthews, Marner, and Tavares. They're all ahead of him on the depth chart, and he doesn't want to be the ugly duckling. Right now, he's slated as the 3C on that team because he has 2 superstars blocking him. So, he wants to get locked in so that he doesn't get short changed.
Granted, if the Flyers were to trade for/sign him, there'd have to be a caveat to talk to him first to work out a deal. But if he came here, where he isn't as blocked, I think he'd come down on the hit. |
