The reason I'm a Flyer fan is because of Eric Lindros. Loved the hits and the fights but the game has changed. I've matured along with the league and suggest you do the same. |

You don't abandon your best players, you build around them. G and Voracek are two of the best forwards in the NHL. Are they perfect? No. But neither are any of the other stars on other teams.
Backstrom and OV had their leadership doubted for years before they were able to get over the hump. You can bet a lot of their fans wanted to start over b/c they felt that their stars would never beat Crosby/Malkin.
Yzerman was in Detroit for what, 13-14 seasons before the Wings won the Cup? Everybody looks back at him as this great leader, like success was inevitable. They totally forget that he was once seen as a guy who padded his own stats and couldn't help the Wings win.
Then they hired Bowman, brought in the Russians, traded for Shanahan, and *poof* Yzerman suddenly looks like a much better leader and the team wins.
Scapegoating the stars is pretty stupid, especially when G and Jake are a couple of the hardest workers on the team. Again, they are not perfect, but that's where you need coaching and the team's architect to step in and give them the support they deserve. - Tomahawk
Ordinarily you're right, you don't abandon your best players. However, if you think your two best players aren't good enough to win with then you do and thats where I'm at at this point. Again, just my opinion, but nothing from them in the previous 6 years has given me any hope of a cup. Also Ovechkin and Yzerman are hall of famers. Generally speaking you need hall of famers to win a cup. We don't have any on this roster. |

The league has changed in 20 years, it hasn’t changed in eight years. Players still Intimidate each other.
Chris Pronger! When Chris Pronger played for the Philadelphia Flyers, he would actively and purposely in Intimidate the other team. And then the other team and our team would go to interviews and talk about what Chris Pronger did or was doing. Nobody was going to take the game pucks away from Chris Pronger During the Stanley Cup finals in 2010.
I’m pretty sure were the only team in the league that hasn’t had a fight yet this year. The only team. |

Pronger wasn't intimidating, he was dirty and he played mind games, but nobody was scared that he'd beat them up. Spear you in the balls maybe, but that's the extent of it. |

Playing mind games is a form of intimidation.
People were very much worried Pronger would crush them with a hit. You are way off. Kris Versteeg when traded here told a Pronger story that when they played against each other in the finals that he threatened to shove his stick down his throat.
How do you ever played against pronger? Please tell me |

I think it's time to move on from all 3 of these guys. We haven't been past the 1st round in 6 years. We're a very average team to slightly above average team and I don't see it changing a lot either. Does anyone think that this team with G and Jake can win a cup? I could be wrong, but I don't. - Cootehill
God I know right. All three of them suck at goalie and defense also.
Akso why did you leave Coots out as he is part of the same core over those six years

There are certainly teams that are hard to play against but intimidation is a thing of the past. Im not intimidated when I play and I play agains much bigger guys than myself. Fact is they cant do poop. Everyone knows that and todays NHL is the same. You can do what ever you want as long as its legal. Enforcers are not going to rough you up for a hit on a star player. You arent going to get the broad street penalty treatment because all of that gets you a PP and teams nowadays egg players on to retaliate. |

Backstrom and Ovi lead teams through playoff series win after playoff series win before getting that cup. This core has won a playoff series once. Going on 7 years ago. That's a wildly significant difference. |

It's absurd to say that Pronger wasn't intimidating. You don't have to fight to be intimidating. Pronger was an intimidating presence whether it was on the ice or in the locker room. If you got into a puck battle with Pronger, or went to the net when he was out there, you knew you were going to pay a price.
