Regardless its not useful. You get a minus for an empty net goal, you get a minus when your goalie lets in a softie and lets be honest theres at least one per game. Plus you have to account for that horrific Islander game that would have racked up minuses.

I think they were spent. Pretty sure that is why Laughton tried to touch the puck even tho it would have been a high stick (or was it a hand pass, i can't recall) and faceoff in the D zone on the play where they got it out but didn't get it deep for the change.

I disagree. Used correctly, it's useful. Don't use it to rate players, and use it to help show what is happening on the ice. Same as pretty much every stat.

No it shows nothing. A player is -3 what does that show besides someone was on the ice for 3 goals? It doesnt show that you had positive possession numbers, hit many posts or dominated the game. It doesnt show you that the other team had a lucky bounce, goalie let in a weak goal and then down 2-0 they scored an empty netter. Its a useless stat
