Girgs is outplaying them. He is bringing more to the table shift in and shift out.

I thought you went to the game?

Both 22 and 28 played really good on the pk.
0-5 on the pp for calgary.

No reason to hate girgs- he's on pace for 20 plus points

Girgensons is absolutely outplaying them. It isn’t hard to do

To be fair, if we're going to (mostly justifiably) criticize Reinhart for not being able to drive offense as a former #2 overall pick, then it's also fair expect more than 20 points from Girgensons as a former first round pick as well.

He's playing okay at his role (not poorly, not great), but nothing more.

Good point,
But I think we have all accepted that former allstar girgensons is a grinder.

He was the 2nd 1st round pick for the Sabres that year.

Girgs is all out effort- something I'm looking for.
Sure, effort isn't scoring.

28 has played well and his 3 points and penalty killing has lived up to expectations.

Again, the fact that you are singling them out when they are producing the EXACT SAME at 5 on 5 as - Sobotka, Berglund, Sheary, Reinhart, Thompson, and Mittelstadt, with the exception of the fact that they are getting heavy D zone work is utter insanity.

First it’s they need to score, then it’s they can’t prevent a double deflection goal.

Like I said before, they could score goals and you’d find something else about them

- sbroads24

No they can't

But if they could, I would shut up about it. Mittelstadt played 4 minutes even strength two games ago, and played slightly less than Girgs 5-on-5 last night.

Larsson, Girgs and Berglund is the 2nd line right now. And they are not scoring goals.

They are not the 4th line, and they absolutely are the secondary scoring problem

Mittelstadt drove the net, created a penalty and almost scored (if he hadn't been tripped after being held. Should have been 2 penalties.)

Berglund has a partial break and floated a jochen Hecht special directly into the goalies crest. These guys aren't even close

Girgensons is gnashing around making a lot of noise, accomplishing nothing

How about the guy that lead the team in goal scoring?
That doesn't pk?

How about the 8th overall pick from 2017?
1 goal, not ok

Defensive specialist not scoring
Guy that scores 7 goals a year- is on pace

- Huge problem? 6-4-2

He's on pace for 0 goals right now.

And when you play Girgensons more than Reinhart, you're still gonna get no production from 28, and you're gonna get less from 23.

I have no idea why people are so attached to a guy who scored 4 goals in 80 games, and a guy with 3 consecutive 7 goal seasons.

My God, our bar for "effective" is so low

Right, but Girgensons top 6 potential waved bye bye two years ago.

Reinhart just came off a 25 goal season and signed a new deal entering his prime.

One is expected to score goals

Its hilarious that larrson and girgs are your fall back bashers.

They are doing their job- unlike

Sam- should be scoring
Casey -should be scoring
Risto - should be playing d
Sheary - absense of scoring
McCabe - sketchy d
Scandella - too many mistakes - every game

PHIL- should be using dahlin in ot

Again: name me a couple scoring 4th lines in the nhl.
Especially a team coming off a last place finish

Before the season, the argument about these two was "it doesn't matter, they only play 8 minutes a night"

-Now they're playing 16-17

Then it was we need them for the penalty kill

-ranked 15, firmly mediocre

Then it was we need them to close out games

-last night happened

They're playing as much as a bona fide top 6 winger in Reinhart, and all they do is thrash around. They are not a 4th line based on usage, and they haven't mustered a goal with the goalie in the net.

They're basically the worst 2nd line ever

- jcragcrumple

How many 6th rounders can we get for them?

I think the bar is set pretty low when you finish dead last in the league 3 out of the last 5 years.

Some guys play defense. Averaging 10 goals a year

Respectable +/- considering the losing

I thought he played really good yesterday.
Cant say the same of others mentioned.

Maybe girgs is earning his playing time?
