The VGK blog writer is leaving - who here was snubbed for that gig? Is he/she going to get it now?
Oh, regarding the Flyers - it's time for a change. Someone needs to leave. - Scoob

I'm not disagreeing, simply asking why Holmgren didn't make such a no-brainer move like that during his later GM tenure (and manage to actually get a half-decent return)? - jmatchett383

this team is a few losses from hot garbage firesale mode - 2Real
Nah, you're jumping ahead.
1.) Call up of some young guys just to get the attention of the locker room.
2.) Fire the coach.
3.) Player yard sale.
4.) ?????
5.) PARADE female dogEZ |

What a team is able to generate offensively is not representative of what the strategy and design of the system is. If that's all it takes, then all Hakstol needs to do is install the take shots close to the net and score goals system and woila! - MJL
No team in the league puts as little emphasis as taking shots from the slot as the Flyers. That is why they struggle to score goals at ES. |

As I said last week, it's time for Hextall to decide whether or not there's a deal out there worth his collection of assets to help this group. The big question is, does he believe in these guys?
There needs to be a coaching change and they need to stop relying on a second year kid in Patrick to carry the second line as it's pivot. Giroux needs to go back to center, Coutuier second line and Patrick third line and then move some assets for help on the left side.

Seriously debating whether or not to throw off my sleep schedule to hate watch this team. - johndewar
I won’t lie. In the ‘06-‘07 season, I would only tape the games and ...maybe watch parts of them later. It was so painful. Please, please, please tell me I won’t have to do that this season.

True, but I think there's gotta be a deal out there from a lesser team looking for good prospects and or picks. For four years he's done very little, that's actually helped, to support Giroux, Voracek and Couturier. Love what he's built for a prospect pool but they need help now. |

I don't remember a season that I watched fewer games than that one. |

'06-'07 definitely had all the earmarks of a terrible season, just judging by the off-season signings and the retirement of Desjardins and Primeau. And the drama with Forsberg's foot, which was easily the most maddening thing I've ever been a part of as a sports fan.
Once they fired Hitch and Clarke quit, I watched more out of morbid curiousity than anything else.
This year's team had some expectations pinned on them. And really, they weren't even lofty ones. Just don't get blown out in the first round and, Gordie Howe willing, get through to the 2nd round.

You have to have something worth trading for to make trades. Flyers have nothing they can afford to part with, If they trade a piece now they are just creating a new hole to fill another - xShoot4WarAmpsx
not true at all. why can't they part with prospects and/or picks for a young nhl player to help now an dnd in the future? |

At least we have good prospects news
“Fun @NHLFlyers stats:
Högberg underlying @vaxjolakers stats so far in @SHLse.
16:53 EV TOI/GP (1st on team D)
63.12% Corsi
+6.74 Corsi Rel
56.28 CF/60
32.88 CA/60
From eye-test+stats has been great. One of best SHL Dmen in DZ, shot suppression stats are fantastic. #Flyers” |

Why can't they trade for a 27 year old Matt Duchene? As an example. He's an established talent in the prime of his career. |

I disagree with that absurd narrative. In the same light I guess the Flyers defensive system is designed to give up a lot of goals. Comical.

Because this poopty team has so much talent that if we move it for help we'll just regret it later when another team figures out how to use it to win games.
That's why. |

blues coach says he should be on the hot seat - blues win the next game 7-3
flyers coach says players need to sack up - flyers get teabagged 6-1
coincidence? perhaps |

Maybe we'll keep JVR rather than shipping him out to a hysterical Brian Burke.

Therein lies the issue, but it certainly involves a first round pick. Call me crazy but if Duchene will sign a five year extension I'd trade a first and Patrick for him.
Sorry I've never been a huge Patrick fan and they have a couple good centres drafted already. Couturier is 26 in December, Duchene 28 in January. They're still young enough kids like Frost and O'Brien can continue to develop over the next three years.
Just a hypothetical but they can't continue to just sit on their hands. It's not the Flyer way. Ed Snider would be proud of me right now |

They didn't shoot from the slot in the Islanders, game, for sure. You can see for yourself that, for whatever reason, they aren't shooting from the "dirty areas" of the ice.
