No. Nobody here is even close to him, despite what they may think. It's not an insult, just a statement of fact. That said, dealing Pronger to a pathetic team that needed a contract to reach the floor was as no-brainer as it gets. - Scoob
I'm not disagreeing, simply asking why Holmgren didn't make such a no-brainer move like that during his later GM tenure (and manage to actually get a half-decent return)? |

Leier was scratched last night. They'd have to make another roster move if Leier was getting called up.
Ghoulbourne sucks and it will be close to playing with 11 forwards. Hopefully limits their ice time though so silver linings I guess - YuenglingJagr
I am not asking Goulbourne to score 20 goals. Right now I am just looking from compete. This team needs at least some compete. If he can bring that, and maybe just put a spark into them I would be happy.
Right now this team has no heart and is soft. They need something. Maybe Goulbourne acts as a defibrillator and provides a little shock to the heart of this team.
Anything positive right now would help this team |

The late games with the west coast trip make it a slam dunk. |

10pm games - they'll bore me to sleep by 10:15 which will get me about an hour more sleep than I normally get so there's the silver lining for me |

Yep, I’m sure they only expect him to play his game, compete and give his all. The young energy can be a positive.

I know this is tough to do when comparing his last 2 seasons but Id try Giroux back at C to start this road trip. Lack of a 3rd Center is a major flaw thats getting exposed.

man that left side looks awful.

The full trade was Pronger + Grossmann with retention of $500,000 for Gagner + 2016 4th round pick.
https://www.broadstreetho...flyers-coyotes-sam-gagner
The pick was traded to the Islanders for a 2017 4th, which was then traded to Arizona along with a 2nd and a 3rd for the 35th overall pick which Hextall used to select Isaac Ratcliffe.

Glad to see some of you are coming over to myself. I understand Coots and G has chemistry last season but at this point, Hakstol is forcing something that isn’t there anymore. We don’t have a third line center and we do have a first line LW in JvR. |

Give it 2 more games.... If nothing changes by then I want to see some moves to make this team harder to play against. If that means trading some picks for bottom 6 role players then so be it. If it means cutting out Weal and Leier... fine. Once JVR is healthy I need to see 2 solid scoring lines, an energy line and a defensive line. If that means moving Voracek or Simmonds, so be it. |

I would have preferred Hextall to promote Bardreau as an energy guy. He's really feisty, and better than Ghoul at everything but fighting. |

I’m not sure I’m understanding the call up of Goulbourne. Our fourth line in my mind has been the least of our problems. I think I would call up Myers just because Folin and Mac have been bad that. |

Ronalds half ass rebuild is not having very good results. Outside of 1st rd picks no draft choices are doing anything of substance. He refuses imo to make a hockey trade to actually help the flyers. his trades and signings have been failures overall.
I was hoping the team would have taken the identity of the GM when he was a player; yet we have the total opposite.
they have been was to play against for years. Average leadership.
Combine all the above and this is what you get. There is no quick fix though there are moves that can help. - rinaldo
You have to have something worth trading for to make trades. Flyers have nothing they can afford to part with, If they trade a piece now they are just creating a new hole to fill another |

The reason, or another reason to entertain this is NP’s play has not been good.
With Couts being not playing well they are getting outmatched badly at center up and down the line up.
No great solutions but shifting G to Center will get better match ups down the line.
I almost think there would have to be a coaching change before we see G back at center though. |

The left side won't look as awful when JVR returns. I was originally against moving Giroux back but with Coots and Patrick not playing to expectations I think the move has to be made.
Patrick may be a case where Hakstol moved him up the lineup before he was ready. |

I watch the Phantoms play and I don't see that. I think the sources of criticism towards Gordon wouldn't know team structure if it landed on top of them. Same as the sources who claim that the Flyers offensive system is built around point shots. One of the dumbest comments I've ever read. - MJL
Then why are the red blobs so big at the points?
https://twitter.com/user/...tatus/1056558898973433856
Under Hak, the Flyers rank 24th in 5on5 goal scoring. 440 goals in 257 games; a paltry 1.71 goals per game at 5on5.

they have Simmonds to trade who is worth a fair bit
Can they afford to part with him?
For the right return. I’d hate to trade him but if they could get a right handed D that can play top 4 minutes in all situations, improve the D and the PK, I would consider doing it. I’d trade Simmonds + for the right guy. |

When JVR comes back you can put him with G and V and move Lindblom with Patrick. I like Laughton with Couturier as well. |

Definitely. I meant as it stands. Also, I don’t know if Patrick was moved up before he was ready, he sure looked ready toward the end of last year. You could say his injury could be playing a factor now, but he didn’t look too good before that. |

Agreed on the bold but this year both Coots and Patrick haven't been good. |
