I think we’d all be happy with 7x7
Might cost more though
-1 year later
-Skinner doesn’t have the baggage EK9 had

What’s the highest you’d go?

- jdfitz77

8 x 8
7.5 x 8
7 x 8
Same as you were thinking
I would wait until the deadline to extend if possible.

I think skinner makes ever poster happy- or should

Yeah, it’s always tough to guess.

Depends who else signs before FA too.

If he’s all the sudden the #1 FA it changes things

- sbroads24

I’m nervous that the longer we wait,
the bigger the odds get that he’ll go to free agency

Botts was on WGR the other day though & made it sound like discussion with his agent wasn’t happening any time soon

I’m sure there will be some on here that get on him when he’s in the middle of a 1goal in 10games (or something like that) streak

There’s generally not a shortage of overreaction on here

If they change the regs anytime soon he could be in a great spot to capitalize ala Hamilton going to Mercedes when they sucked and everyone thought it was a dumb idea til they changed the regs.
- TheHank

2021/ I don't think it's going to be as drastic, but they're going for cheaper, simpler engines, but nowhere near the change when they went hybrid turbo, they're going to low-profile tires too, and some aero changes.

Edit: Kinda sucks for Alonso not to get the lap record, but I think he'll be back, so he could still get it.

I think it’s going to go to the off-season. And I don’t blame Skinner.

But I like our odds with him. He’s from close to here and waived to come here

No chance we trade him if we are in playoff race

Do you overpay slightly to prevent that? let's say he's got ~25 goals at the deadline.

Yeah absolutely.

He’s one of maybe 10 wingers worth doing that for

I would give Skinner 8x8 and not think twice about it. We would have a top-line winger until he's 35, which is about when his production would take a huge dive anyway.

I’m less worried about aav than I am term. If we can get him for 6 years go ahead and some to the aav. Term is what worries me the most.

I do not want 35 yr old wingers at 8m aav.

I’d do the happy dance if we could extend Skinner, and also sign Stone

Anything under 17mil per for both I’d be ok with
I’d like it to be less,
but they’re premiere players
It’s gonna cost

I would too. I still think he gets bounced around a bit from Jack's line to maybe Mittelstadt's if they ever give him more ice time like they did with Kane. I think necessarily neither one can truly flourish when they're together(Skinner and Eichel).

If Skinner & Mitts can be productive together,
then i think it’s a great idea

Can always put Sheary & Sam back with Jack
We know that line was productive

Let's just say Seattle is coming in at the right time in terms of the cap. Canada's economy is stagnant, ours is growing, albeit with some troubling signs pertaining to wage growth meaning basically the same amount of disposable income, or even less when factoring inflation, so you're looking at probably only escalator increases until the bump from Seattle.

I’d still sign him
Any nervousness about years 7-8 would be nullified by how good years 1-6 should be
At least for me anyways

I will pass on any long term deal outside of our own draft picks that don’t go past the age 30 season. Trade em and keep drafting for all I care.

That dumbass play in ot yesterday grinded my gears. Just dump it behind the net ffs. That goal was on him imo.
- TheHank

Think he has 7-8 goals directly on himself already this season.... he is an absolute liability and should be getting bottom pair minutes or sitting in the PB soon, hopefully.

I look at it like this:

Skinner should keep this up for 5-6 years, and the Sabres Cup window should be open in that time. They should get the players they need to win a cup in that span.

What's the breaking point regarding his contract? I ask because it could very well take $64M, or more to get him to sign.
