Al Morganti's key to success for the game is one word. Engery.
That really says it all about this team. |

It is the job of the front office to figure something out.
Other than PATIENCE, when this team is clearly struggling now.
Way to do it is GM your way into getting 2 for 1 player trade. And I get the whole 'other teams say in trade stuff....' that's what good GMs do.
If it is strictly due to waiting for awful contracts to expire, that is CHEAPNESS.
Only question is how long do we have to struggle before that happens....
Probably early next year. - DrMidnite
The front office has figured something out. Changing course because of a 10 game skid would be idiotic. They have to continue to draft and develop the young players and continue to integrate them into the lineup. That is the only smart way in a salary cap league. You draft and develop, build the core of the team that way, and then supplement with trades and or free agency. The Flyers have never been cheap as an organization. No matter how good a GM is, he can't magically make a trade appear just because he wants to make one to provide a quick fix. |

It hasn't been 5 years of slop, they finished 3rd in a tough Metro last year and made the playoffs. The Flyers despite looking very poorly right now still have a high number of quality young players who they are working with to get better. Things are disappointing right now but hopefully it's just a speed bump. The Flyers strive to be competitive every season. They don't tank. That's a mis-read on your part.
As far as your personal issue with me, I see no reason to lower myself and get involved in that. Hope you enjoy the game also. - MJL
Last post, and it's not personal.
But I enjoy these threads and you come across as an apologist, really you do.
Taking people at their face value is fine, but there are most definitely agendas, fear of losing jobs, and 'equity' in their business decisions
Hakstol was Hextalls guy. Hand picked. You should know that he has a stake in his success and removing him is an admission of 'I screwed up'.
I really believe they are treading water, if they are, move any pieces NOW that can add VALUE later. It really makes no sense to me.
And you ASSUME we would be worse off without G or Voracek. Not necessarily the case, at all. |

I want Hak gone, but a bigger part of me wants to see nothing but pure domination.
I’m also tired of playing the Islanders. (frank) them. Ride them into the ground. |

False. What I am is a voice of reason. I remove the emotion from the equation and look at the big picture. I can see that despite the team playing poorly currently, I can still see the number of quality young players on the team, and the stable of prospects that they can draw from to make this team better. None of that is a guarantee, but it is the correct approach.
If I thought the Flyers were inept in their approach, I would say so. I'd not only say so but I'd lead the way in saying so. Just like I did when I was one of a handful that advocated that the Flyers needed to fire Laviolette in the off season.

What you're missing here is that if the Flyers don't improve, Hextall himself will be out of a job so if you think he'll be reluctant to fire Hakstol if he finds it neccessary just to save face. I think that's a poor read on your part. Hextall will not hesitate if he think s that is best for the team in my opinion.

The team is actually going backwards in the first 10 games. I think any trade of Giroux or Voracek is likely to bring back young players and or draft picks and most likely will weaken the team short term. |

The new home is intriguing. Hak hate looms large. Also I take number 1. The nerdy looking ones are always crazier. |

False. If they don't improve this year, you are saying he loses his job. I say bull. Because of the fabled CAP SPACE he never had to play with.
And what exactly is the time span for them to improve?
1 year into cap heaven, 2 years, a big FA signing?
so if you think he'll be reluctant to fire Hakstol if he finds it neccessary just to save face. I think that's a poor read on your part. Hextall will not hesitate if he think s that is best for the team in my opinion.
You are clearly stating you KNOW he will/wont. Can you not see that?

I saw somewhere that his dad was asked by a reporter once something about his development.
He said he’s a slow starter but after that look out. Something similar anyway. Nice to see. |
