I’ll take all of the above for $1000 Alex
- BiggE

It is the job of the front office to figure something out.

Other than PATIENCE, when this team is clearly struggling now.

Way to do it is GM your way into getting 2 for 1 player trade. And I get the whole 'other teams say in trade stuff....' that's what good GMs do.

If it is strictly due to waiting for awful contracts to expire, that is CHEAPNESS.

Only question is how long do we have to struggle before that happens....

Probably early next year.

I’m not criticizing the coach, just wish the GM would give him another option. As much as AMac and Folin have struggled, I can’t imagine Myers could be any worse.
- BiggE

That's just not how the Flyers approach things and I agree with them. If a young player is developing well and playing well, let that continue over a period of time. Rather than bring them up and plug them into the NHL on a team that is currently dysfunctional and interrupt the strong development path a player is on.

Gut check game today. If they lose this one, they should take a friggin greyhound to the west coast for the road trip.

Win a (frank)ing game

Talk about a great motivational coaching move!
Its the humbling kick in the nuts these guys need maybe.

ok let me try this again. This organization has to start to take steps to move forward. if the CURRENT team misses the playoffs THIS season I will view that as a major disappointment. the team can't be ok with a one and done moving forward
- nastyflyergirl

If they miss the playoffs, it will be huge disappointment and they will also have a new coach for 19-20.

And the pressure from ownership will be squarely and heavily on Hextall at that point too.

so what is the real problem with this team? is it the core? the support players? the defense? the goaltending? the coaching? I mean, not just this year, but over the last 5 years or so
- nastyflyergirl

Lack of identity.

You people crack me up. Improvement is most times incremental. The Flyers took steps forward as a team last season despite the loss in the first round that everyone harps on as if it diminishes that improvement somehow. If the Flyers make the playoffs and face a better team, as long as they play well, that shouldn't be viewed as a major disappointment in my opinion. It's all relative.

Yes and no. Hextall made it clear, both in his words and with the signing of JVR that he expected this team to take the next step this season. Even if Myers comes up and has a poor game, so what? If he’s so mentally fragile that one poor game at the NHL level destroys him for life than he’ll never be an NHL player.

While I agree with Hextall’s philosophy in general, I do think he tends to be over cautious with prospects to at least some degree.

It's a waste of time to bring him up for one game where he likely won't even see that many minutes. I agree with Hextall's philosophy that you can hurt a player by bringing him up too soon, but keeping him down longer never hurts a player. That does at times delay a players rise but it's the right way to go in my opinion.
Plus, they need Folin to play on the PK, which they're unlikely to use Myers for. I know it can't get worse on the PK but that is the thinking.

That is the point...most organizations don’t keep pooptty players around for as long as the Flyers seem to....Folin blows....Amac has been awful...and Myers ain’t ready....so go get a (frank)ing defenceman that can play from somewhere else...same goes for guys like Weise and Lehtera....if they start to play like poop, and Lehigh has no viable replacement options, then look elsewhere.

My point is if you clearly are not good, and refuse to try to be for WHATEVER reason, it is defacto process.

Just won't say it because of the stigma.

Good lord I think we can slow our roll on passing judgement on a kid after 4 games.
- MBFlyerfan

Jeez, maybe I could have worded it a little better, but It sounded from Bill’s, post that he wasn’t performing well. I’ve never even seen the kid play. How am I passing judgement? Being Flyers fans has made you guys a bit too sensitive.

I think Hexy did leave some big holes open, even with the JvR signing.

3rd line center is a gaping one, and he didn’t want to pay the inflated price to sign a UFA vet.

Goaltending. Hart wasn’t starting this yr in Philly and keeping to the plan of Elliot and Neuvy said to me he wasn’t going all in on taking the next step.

The set back of Morin not yet a part of the team has been huge. If he were up to speed the PK would likely be a whole lot better as would the D pairings. This is speculation of course but how I see a healthy Morin fitting in, he would be a tremendous boost to the club right now.

The other huge hole is not having a top 4 right handed D in the line up, this year and forever. One of the reasons Sanheim is doing well is he is playing the left side with Gudas. They badly need an all purpose right handed D who can play big minutes now. Myers wasn’t ready and Hexy left that spot unfilled.

Regarding Myers. There is no way to know what the reason is for him not playing on the big club.

They might think Mac or Folin give them a better chance.

They might think it’s having too many rookies.

Or yes, they might think he isn’t ready.

Easy, waive Pickard, bring up Myers
- BiggE

Done. What the hell are we waiting for? I don't always pay attention to the moving parts of the transactions. Too easy. We owe Pickard nothing.

I should not have engaged you.

You do not know that. Period.

They may VERY WELL want A BLANK SLATE starting next year before any real attempt to be competitive is made.

What does that sound like to you, after 5 years of SLOP?

That was rhetorical, enjoy the game!

The reason why Myers isn't on the Flyers is pretty obvious. Plenty of information out there to develop an informed opinion on that. It's not a guess.

It hasn't been 5 years of slop, they finished 3rd in a tough Metro last year and made the playoffs. The Flyers despite looking very poorly right now still have a high number of quality young players who they are working with to get better. Things are disappointing right now but hopefully it's just a speed bump. The Flyers strive to be competitive every season. They don't tank. That's a mis-read on your part.

As far as your personal issue with me, I see no reason to lower myself and get involved in that. Hope you enjoy the game also.

I'm not sure but I think they're nearing the time when they can waive Pickard again. They had to keep him on the team for a certain amount of games and time.

You're assuming Neuvirth stays healthy. Pickard will be back on the bench sooner or later.

Neuvirth stays healthy. Leads them to the final where Elliot replaces him.

MacDonald scores the GWG and the Flyers win the cup. Hakstol given keys to the city.

I fly down and climb the rocky steps. Faint and pass away slowly once I hit the top. World ends.
