Islanders goal 1) Patrick loses his check leaving Komarov all alone at the net for a tip
Islanders goal 2) Patrick loses his check and Beauvillier scores from the slot.
Islanders goal 3) Folin tries to do too much and botches a simple 2 on 2.
Islanders goal 4) Neutral zone turnover, Laughton glides and doesn't pick anyone up
Islanders goal 5) Sanheim leaves his feet.
Islanders goal 6) Mixup in communication, Provorov challenges high, Lehtera goes to same man leaving mini 2 on 1 down low. |

Fire Hakstol, trade simmonds, voracek, call up myers. Bring in morin after his conditioning stint with the phantoms is complete so we have some toughness and fire to this time. |

Unbelievable. I saw Vorobyev doing far more out there then Simmonds did all game. - hereticpride
That's simply not true. Simmonds didn't have a good game, who did, but Vorobyev did not belong out on the ice.

I'm going to call for blood.
If Hextall isn't ever going to pull the trigger on Hakstol, then he needs to go too. |

I feel like we've come to expect the frustration that comes along with Jake but I am honestly flat out shocked seeing Simmonds be such a non factor in games now.
He gets the puck. Skates it into the defender and gives it up. Rinse. Repeat. Picking up rebounds on the PP does not excuse the bullpoop effort he's going through the rest of the game with. |

Carrying the puck and creating offense has never been Simmonds game. The Flyers aren't effective right now at getting the puck behind the defense and getting the puck to the net where Simmonds is most effective. Unless that is happening, Simmonds isn't going to be much of a factor. I don't know why we have to continuously scapegoat a player. There are far more talented players than Simmonds who did nothing in the game. This is a team wide issue. |

Yup, not a single member of this team should be holding his head up high today. This was a flat out embarrassment on home ice in front of fans who shelled out a lot money to be there. It was disgraceful.
13-2 gentlemen. Last 3 games, the combined score is 13-2. They could swap out the entire roster for that of the Phantoms and it wouldn’t be any worse. |

Not scapegoating him. There is blame to go all around. But he showed no effort today in an important game. He's supposed to be a leader and he goes out and does nothing all game. He's supposed to have all these great traits and frankly they're nowhere to be seen.
Same can pretty much be said for Jake as well in all honesty. At least G is putting up numbers at a decent clip and looks like he gives a damn out there. |

Haha don’t act like you wouldn’t love to resurrect mike Johnston’s penguins career. But in all seriousness, I don’t view Hakstol as a must keep by any means, but canning him isn’t going to be a magical cure. I totally understand the frustration and wanting to see a head roll. Something. |

I don't agree that he showed no effort. The problem is that the Flyers are not a team right now. It's all misdirected and individual effort instead of a collective team effort. Lots of mistakes are being made from trying to do too much. Examples are Folin going for the hit, and Sanheim leaving his feet. |

How about Voracek corkscrewing himself into the ice nearly injuring himself on the first shift? What the hell was that?

How many times in the game did we see a Flyer try and carry puck along the wall through two defenders? Konecny miraculously did it once and created a scoring chance. A tell tale sign if any game is to see the 50/50 pucks along the wall and see one team consistently outnumbering the other.
On the flip side I saw one defensive coverage play where both defenseman rubbed out their guy, and Giroux came deep and took the puck the other way. Hooray!, team play. Happened very little. |

I haven't read the thread. I'm as frustrated as anyone with the team and I'm sure the comments are all about Hakstol. I still maintain that the issue is not coaching, it's on the players. There is no doubt in my mind about that. However, coaching is a results oriented business and I have doubts that this team will come out of it without some sore of major change being made. The simplest and most reasonable change to make is to make a coaching change. I don't think Hextall is going to do that right now but he should. The timing will never be good. If they wait until there is a gap in the schedule, it may be too late. This has become a mental issue for this team. They need some sort of reset. They're just too easy to play against. - MJL
I’m not disagreeing with you, but if it’s on the players and not the coaching then what do you do if the players have tuned Haks out? I’m not saying this is what’s going on, but What if they simply don’t respect him or his system anymore? What can you do? You can’t fire the players or trade them all; you almost have to change coaches. I used to stick by Haks over the years but this season is really, really testing me.

It’s extremely concerning that after the Boston loss Haks said this team needed to sack up and this is what we came back with today. |

Maybe the Flyers should make this road trip a fun bet with Hakstol like the Preds did with Lavy
Haks: “If you guys win this 4 game road trip out I’ll resign”
*Flyers win 10 straight*

Wht the Flyers need is a vocal leader. Giroux is a good leader but he is the type that leads by example. He is struggling right now as well but this team needs someone to step up and say what needs to be said. The right move right now is to bring someone in who can do that via trade. I dont really understand why the core of this team is so mentally fragile though. |

They already have a guy that can do that. The time for talk is over. I'm not trading for a player to talk. Too much talk, time for action.
