It was a stupid comment. You address the player face to face. Why Center a rookie out for poor play ? I keep hearing what a great job Hakstol has done with the kids and there development. Maybe they are developing in spite of him ? And maybe another coach could actually get more out of them .

The smarter move for Hakstol would of been to play those guys more, obviously the top players aren't making a difference so he could see what those young guys do in that situation. If they falter, at least he can say top players are not executing so his only choice was to see what others could do.

Instead he is playing it safe by riding the tired horses and making himself look terrible.
