Its not the fix, but its a step. One that should have been taken long ago, along with the sacking of the PK coach.
I am curious if Hex drops the hammar. Blind loyalty, is going to simply get his ass closer to the fire now - and rightfully so. - flyer_nutter
Microscope is on hextall. Unicorns and rainbows for 4 years playing in the draft. We’ll see what he’s made of |

Move G and Jake NOW.
I really think it could be addition by subtraction.
Do your job Hexy and create depth.
We CLEARLY cannot win with this, what is the point of the status quo. |

Why would anyone want simmer at this point? He looks cooked - bulet13
I'm not expecting a spectacular return on Simmonds at this point but I think you can still get yourself a lotto protected 1st for him. |

I didn’t like that Hakstol used Folin as a starter. Folin did start the game at puck drop.
The Flyers did have pressure early once they settled in but came up empty.
On the PP, Stealing from the Islanders play book. I would love to see Konecny set up where Barzel does. Low near, left side on the goal line. Patrick set up much higher on the left half wall where Eberle was playing. Much like Giroux.
I didn’t mean to hit send |

They are not only giving up scoring chances...they are giving up goals.
They are creating scoring chances that are can't miss.
There is no excuse for ANY of the play that this collection of players displayed.
Blaming Hakstol is BS. Saying it is his fault for not motivating them...they are freaking professionals. If they don't get motivated by $$$ than they should be gone.
If his system is to blame...we will never know because they don't play any system and don't compete. - wbon22
At the same time, Hakstol has had 4 years now to cultivate a team identity with the essentially the same core group of guys over that time. The only thing we can honestly say this team is known for is their inconsistency. It’s not completely on the coach for players underperforming, but at this point in his tenure, we should see real improvement year over year if the coaching staff has effectively developed guys and put them in the right system to succeed.
It’s worrying that with the talent they have and have had, they haven’t been able to get out of the 1st round and alternate years between missing and making the playoffs. We all expect more than mediocrity. Something’s got to change. |

Game 11, and the team’s goal differential is -14. Only the Red Wings and Kings are worse. 7th in the Metro and Rags are only 1 point behind with a game in hand.
The entire team should be forced to fly coach to the coast. Each seated in a middle seat with a 300 pound man on one side a guy who just ate a plate of limberger cheese and onions and who won’t stop talking on the other. - BiggE
Too bad Spirit doesn't fly to LA. |

This has got to be one of the most mentally fragile teams in the league and I agree when they say its on the leadership. Guys like Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds and the other Vets have to lead by example and they are not setting a good example especially Voracek right now |

As bad as this start is, I'd rather get a new coach before I trade the captain, who just so happens to be the most talented player on this team.
Jake on the other hand, he's getting on my last nerve with these terrible turnovers and penalties. |

Giroux and Jake with their contracts will be really difficult to trade in season. Simmonds would be a piece of cake. Even if he’s struggling there will be multiple bids |

I get it, but there is no reason we need him, his salary, and whatever replaces him (Maybe package with Sanheim for NugentHopkins+?)
Provorov Coutourier and Patrick are the future. |

Start with the coaching staff. Its not going to solve everything but a fresh perspective is needed.
Then look at solving some of the critical issues. There is too many to list and call ups/trades might be needed to address them.
