He probably won’t.

He will sign and will probably tear it up next to Matthews. Leafs fans will show their classic short memory and will love him again.

Yep. As soon as he ends up signing some great value contract I'm fully prepared to forget all about this crap and become a Willy lover again... wait, that didn't come out right... I mean, I'll purchase whatever shampoo he ends up promoting and marvel at how graceful he is and how well he can handle a stick. Yeah, that's much better.

If by atrocious you mean arguably the best d-man in the league than yes, you are correct, sir. Does he make the occasional, glaring gaffe? Sure. Does he make up for it many times over? Yup.

This year he's started off a bit slow as he's likely still acclimating to San Jose and hasn't quite lived up to his usual Norris-self. But seriously, let's not kid ourselves: he's a HoF player and any of this "atrocious" talk is nonsense.

Wish he was on the Leafs.

Pretty brutal

Apparently players aren’t allowed to get beat ever...they must have complete domination

Nope. I don't mean that in the slightest.

Try watching him. He's (frank)ing awful. His defensive lapses aren't occasional, it's pretty much every shift.

He's been a liability defensively his entire career.

EDIT: Will he get better than what he's been so far this year? Probably, yeah. But only offensively.

3 turnovers on that shift in OT alone for Karlsson. 2 were pretty great scoring opportunities for Carolina.

Man, he's soooooooooooooo good defensively.

I think there's a consensus that if the deal was for 6 million, it would already be done? Right?

If KneeLander sits past Dec 1 he officially flushes that amount. It would take 3 years to make up that lost money if he magically signs anywhere for 8 in 2019. That's not to mention that his value takes a hit for not playing in the NHL for a year.

Sure, he could sign somewhere in Europe or the KHL and play out the rest of the year after December 1.. the euro leagues don't pay near the NHL for a skilled player though. Might get the money in the KHL, but might also get injured playing in a league that does not have guaranteed contracts. Willie already has a concussion under his belt. Anything can happen.

It doesn't take long to see that even signing a two year bridge deal would have been better for everyone than what's going on right now.

I can't believe we traded Phaneuf

and Ottawa is STILL paying for him with nothing to show for it.

- Aetherial

I heard the other day that when the Sens played the Kings, Phaneuf was the highest paid dman by the Sens in that game. Not sure if true but close enough to funny.

It was true. It might be the most epic fail moment in the history of the league.

Sens up 3-1 last night... collapsed. Habs stumbling against Sabres.

Are we seeing these teams finally show their true colors when youthful enthusiasm hits the wall and the grind kicks in?

I was really hoping that Duchene got the hattrick, though. I got him in my fantasy league.

He must have felt like such a twat after leaving the Avs for not being a playoff team, while his new team is even worse and the Avs are now a playoff team.
