Ah cool, cherry picking stats.

McBackup sporting
2.76 GAA
3W 1L

oh well.

- Fakepartofme

Wins/losses aren't a useful stat to gauge a goalie's capabilities.

Also, S% is to WHIP as GAA is to ERA. IMHO, the former is a useful statistic while the latter is less telling.

Suffice it to say, it's a small sample set but so far Sparks seems to be interchangeable with McBackup/Pickard.

ACTUALLY...

That loser Dean Blundell is reporting that the deal for Nylander is coming "within 48hrs" (which means 30hrs to go!)

Just ignore that he's a washed up shock-jock dink with no real connections in the sports world though.

- markmark

Ya he reported and average of 5.8-6.3 per.
That would be good over 6 years

Keys to Tonight's Game:

- Just take it one shift at a time
- Focus on doing the little things right
- Keep it simple
- Play our game
- Winnipeg is one of the top teams in the league - they will come to play
- Get pucks to the net
- Win the puck battles
- Andersen needs to be square to the shooters. Don't be too busy.
- Control the rebounds
- Limit the opposition's chances in the scoring areas
- Get the puck in deep and establish the forecheck
- Stay out of the penalty box
- Be physical down low
- Our best players have to be better than their best players
- Contributions from all four lines

- Atomic Wedgie

This is evolutionary, or is it revolutionary, or simply just visionary?

I think they should focus on taking the crowd out of the game early. They know Winnipeg is going to come at them hard early on, in their own building. They just need to withstand the initial push.

Cheer up buddy!

Leafs are still a good team! They're bound for success! Don't worry!

Being in 2nd place to the Habs isn't something to be ashamed of.

It has the makings of a great game as it always does, but the Leafs haven't been playing well so who knows.

Offense: I'd say a wash because Leafs are a bit deeper but the Jets' top end is stronger.

Defense: Edge Jets

Goalies: Edge Leafs

Not if Hellybuyck, or however it is spelled, is playing.

He hasn't been anything special this season so far, but not many goalies have so we will see how he looks further into the season.

But Talbot had a great year 2 years ago and was terrible last season. Consistency in goalies is pretty rare. Seems only 10 goalies or so throughout the league are consistent year in year out.

Hellebuyck before last year never showed much promise, and had a random outstanding year. Time will tell if he's the real deal.

If that's legit I think Nylander would be smart and rather take the 2 year bridge at 5m per, and aim for the big bucks later.

Unless he's looking for a decent contract to hold him over till 28 years old and feels he could still land one more big contract (much like JT). Then I guess I can see where he's coming from.

for what it's worth the Jets haven't played a solid 60 all year and are not playing like contenders right now. Ehlers is goalless in 26 games, Wheeler is not up to form, Trouba has improved from sloppy play in the first 4-5 games, 3 pair d has been an adventure. 4th line is in development 'trust the process' stage with Rosy new to centre and Lemieux in rookie season.

Both PP units have been excellent and PK has been very good.

I think the Jets may not settle in completely until a week or two after the Finland trip - it's got to be a distraction right now. Hopefully being the 'main event' gets everybody going.

I always format my lists like this, because when people quote it, it makes it look like I'm a key to tonight's game.
