Keys to Tonight's Game:
- Just take it one shift at a time
- Focus on doing the little things right
- Keep it simple
- Play our game
- Winnipeg is one of the top teams in the league - they will come to play
- Get pucks to the net
- Win the puck battles
- Andersen needs to be square to the shooters. Don't be too busy.
- Control the rebounds
- Limit the opposition's chances in the scoring areas
- Get the puck in deep and establish the forecheck
- Stay out of the penalty box
- Be physical down low
- Our best players have to be better than their best players
- Contributions from all four lines

Meh, sparks has 2 wins and no losses. At the end of the day he hasn’t hurt us yet. Let him gain some confidence and he’ll be good. I like the choice of keeping him. - bryant
Oh this has nothing to do with sparks.
Sparks played great his last game. |

GAA and wins and loses is a team stat.
Bad way to evaluate a goalie |

my point is that crying over losing mcbackup was a waste of time.
he had a good 10 or 15 games with the Leafs...big deal..his career has been very underwhelming. so expect that from him going forward |

GAA is not really a team stat, wins i agree are.
Sv% and GAA are usually the two primary goalie stats |

Why was it a waste of time? Some liked mcbackup.
Whats a waste of time is now bringing this up 9 games into the season.
Had to go with sparks due to age. Wasnt a question.
Imo. |

As you all know, I'm currently serving three consecutive life sentences for running over Joffrey Lupul with my minivan, so I need to kill time.
I'm going to partially disagree here - IMHO (I note that you don't have a humble opinion), if the Leafs felt like Andersen is going to be their #1 for the next 4-6 seasons, then you simply take the better backup. Sparks' age isn't a consideration.
Having said that, if they determined that they thought Sparks was the better goalie, then I have no problem with their decision. |

No clue what andersen will be in a few years. Sparks is controllable and young, so age (among other considerations) did play a factor.

GAA is a weak stat to asses goalies on
Extreme example..but one team can give up 40 shots a game and the goalie stops 37 a game his sv% is .925 and GAA is 3.00
Another team can give up 30 shots a game and the goalie stops 27 of them, his SV% is .900 and GAA is 3.00
so gaa is more of a team stat |

This should help the obesity crisis:

I've never bought one but sometimes they show up at our office after big parties. They're kind of great to shame-eat while crazily hungover but that's about it.
On this topic, I just saw an ad for the Tim Horton's one that is a sandwich with a waffle for a bun? I swear to god they must be picking food items the same way South Park said Family Guy writes episodes. |

Agreed...but...something can be said for showing faith in a young player that has paid his dues and was the best at his position in the minor leagues the year before.
It gives a positive message to the rest of the kids fighting the work their way up. |

The biggest difference between the two teams is the Jets have a much superior defense but the Leafs have an explosive offense. It should be a great game. |

ACTUALLY...
That loser Dean Blundell is reporting that the deal for Nylander is coming "within 48hrs" (which means 30hrs to go!)
Just ignore that he's a washed up shock-jock dink with no real connections in the sports world though. |

It has the makings of a great game as it always does, but the Leafs haven't been playing well so who knows.
Offense: I'd say a wash because Leafs are a bit deeper but the Jets' top end is stronger.
Defense: Edge Jets
Goalies: Edge Leafs |
