Connor-Scheifele-Roslovic
Perreault-Lowry-Laine
Copp-Little-Wheeler
Tanev-Petan-Ehlers
Morrissey-Byfuglien
Niku-Trouba
Poolman-Myers
Roll the forwards, shelter the bottom pairing.
Tanev away from Lowry and Copp concerns me. Poolman playing his offside? Fine. Poolman playing his offside with Myers? Hard to look at.
-Scheifele gets the skilled kids
-Roslovic gets to be a winger again
-Laine gets ALL THE SUPPORT EVER
-Wheeler gets to rest
-Little gets a Wheeler
-Copp gets to defensively anchor a line
-Lowry gets minutes like he should
-Perreault gets minutes like he should
-Petan gets actual minutes
-Ehlers finally gets a playmaker, and a puck hound
-Tanev gets a chance to prove he isn’t Lowry’s shadow
-Connor is a god
-Morrissey keeps his minutes
-Buff gets to play with Morrissey
-Niku gets support
-Trouba gets a new Toby
-Poolman gets minutes
-Myers gets sheltered |

Was at the game last night. I was shaking my head after two periods. I was really shaking my head after overtime. How did we ever win that game? - sparky1957

BTW....on that 4th line subject, I imagine Veslalainen will be called up by Sunday or maybe even earlier. He'll probably need a game or so to get ready for Finland and then play both games there. That might get him to 7 or 8 games played. I'm sure he'll then be sent back down to the Moose once he gets back. - jetsnation
I think you're right on Vesalainen...except I see him staying in Finland after the Florida games...then he'll be a regular next season. |

When you have a guy like Jay Bowmeister who gets 5.5 MM and was scratched twice for the previous games and then responds to the benching by being on the ice for 4 goals by the Jets it isn't exactly a good sign. I'd say it certainly doesn't bode well for him as a free agent at the end of the year or even for his value in a possible trade deadline deal.
BTW.....does anyone regret getting Paul Statsny and losing our 29th pick. It turned out to be Rasmus Sandin although Jets might have picked someone different. I'd say our playoff run and its effect on the city and the box office revenues it generated was more important than having a somewhat remote prospect in Sandin in a position we are relatively deep.
This might be a question we might once again ask ourselves at this year's trade deadline. |

Ever since Bouwmeester lost his iron man streak he has not been the same player. Yes this goes back a few seasons. J-bow at this point of his career should be a 7th dman and nothing more. His contract is horrible and no one will take it at the deadline. Also he was only a healthy scratch 1 time this season. Should be more but alas only once |

Yes. Sorry, one game only. There were media reports that mistakenly said two games.
BTW...That Crosby overtime winner last night sure asserted who's still King of the ice. What a beauty of a goal !

Ya think ? I could blindly deal out the Jets player's hockey cards and get a better lineup than this mess. |

I could eat a box of "alpha bits" cereal and crap out a better lineup than Rexy's. |

Don't need to. Maurice knows what he is doing.
No need to make radical changes to the lineup.

reasons why I don't care for a team with attack that is balanced over 4 lines:
1) having four '#2' lines can work against teams in the bottom half of the league but get to the top 8 and teams will out match by using two #1 lines and a solid 3rd.
2) The athletes are fit enough to play 18+ mins/game and are underutilized if they are not
3) It is common to struggle to stay warm and engaged when played only every 4th shift
4) injuries and major penalties throw the line balance to ***t
5) having 2 or 3 lines to rely on gives a safe place for 4th line players from which to develop and progress to a bigger role, or, to play a specialized role on a balanced team

Agreed. He seems to be cancer for any line he plays on. At least they used my preferred lines in the third , which I had said about five threads ago , when they switched Connor for Ehlers........finally ! It really gave a jump to the Scheif line but Laine just doesn't seem to be very good at cycling on any line he plays for.
Buff and Kulikov made quite a few mistakes. Morrissey and Trouba didn't look that great either including Trouba's major gaffe early in the first.
Overall though I felt that the game could have gone either way. An inch here or there and it's a different result.

A 7 year old girl could take the puck away from Laine. He rarely wins a battle for the puck and still skates like he is carrying a Zamboni on his back. |

Just keep Connor Little and Laine together so we can save a fortune on cap space.
