The knee injury happened on August 10th.
For example, Sonny Milano is a 4th liner in Columbus.
Now if you ask me if I'd prefer NAK to replace Weise on the 4th line, or for the Flyers to have a halfway decent penalty kill for the first time since 2014, I'd take the latter. But if the season is already doomed to failure by Hextall being too gutless to cut Lappy loose, you may as well start a youth movement and see what the prospects in the tier below Provy, Konency, Patrick and Lindblom can do. - Feanor
I just looked through the current line combinations alphabetically through the first 10 teams. All young guys. Then I stopped because work. |

No because he isnt a skilled player. He is a smart player that gets in the dirty areas. If we can get a skill guy in exchange for him Id do it in a heart beat. If the Leafs want to send Nylander for him, I will pick up Simmonds in my car, drive him to TO and drive Nylander back. - xShoot4WarAmpsx
It’s a team sport! Every player on this team plays a certain role. This idea that he’s not a skilled player and is reason enough to trade him is stupid. |

I doubt anyone is excited about trading Simmonds but at some point you have to decide if the next contract is one you can commit to. If it isn't then you have to consider moving him for assets instead of letting him walk. I'm sure the guy isn't done but is he still producing 5-7 years from now at an 8 mil clip? Do you want our GM to be the guy who moves on in 4 years and pretends it's not his problem?
If these weren't real problems to work through everyone wouldn't be talking about them. It's an uncomfortable situation for the player, management and the fans. I love the guy but the last thing I want is for him to walk for nothing or become a guy like Filipula who needs to be attached like an anchor to a trade. - mayorofangrytown
In what world is Simmonds expect to get 8 million?? |

See also Nylander... With salary escalations, I don't think 8 mil for a 30 goal scorer is out of the realm of possibility. |

What I'm in favor of is actually fixing it. It was a simple question. How about he PP goals given up the game before that? I'm asking you what the actual issues are. I don't expect you to answer because you don't know. - MJL
There's not nearly enough pressure on the puck when the puck goes down low. Lappy's passive PK box doesn't work. |

Raffl out 6 weeks. He doesn't deserve to be in the lineup anyway.
So whatever. - PLindbergh31
Losing Raffl is going to hurt the team a lot at 5 on 5 and on the PK. Without him, to prop up the 4th line, Lehtera is getting crushed like a paper cup.
The guy averages 27 points per 82 games in his NHL career. I can't understand why people except more from out a 12-14 minute 3rd liner (who sometimes moves up and sometimes down) and who rarely gets PP time.

If the pk is 30th in the league with Raffl, is it really possible it
gets progressively worse with him out of the lineup? |

So that justifies signing him to 7-8 mill on a guy who puts up 40-50% of his points on PP and cant generate offense? |

Yes we will be 31\31 without Raffl. Jokes aside, just because they can only move down 1 spot doesnt mean PK cant be progressively worse. There is a huge gap between 70% and 1%. |

8 mil for Simmonds would be a fireable offense for Hextall. |

I think you know that there's always more room at the bottom of the barrel if you scrape hard enough. |

Who is the lucky team with a PK worse than ours? I want to know what city to aim the Lappy cannon at. |

Last season we were 29th just above Isles and Montreal.
This season we are 30th and Florida is the team below us |

The PK is 30th in a 31 team league.
I think that's a bigger issue. - Feanor
My post was in the context of player additions in forming the team before the season started. A veteran center added to the team could also potentially help the PK. |

I think it's far more about player execution on the ice than the PK system. I'm quite certain that the system by design does not allow a player to walk right in on the goaltender unchecked (Boyle) or for a Selke level forward to back skate completely out of the play to get a better view of Rantanen putting the puck in the open net. |

Maybe it should - then when they mess it up they'll be in the right position lol |
