I know you somehow blame them that the random lottery didnt work out as number 1 overall.
- opeth_pa

It is, all they had to do was win it but its the Flyers, they dont win anything

Elliott is the perfect choice for a bubble team. Not good enough to be actually good and not bad enough to lose his job. Every team gives up breaks and fails to clear the puck. Eventually it's the shooter, the puck and the goalie. Every break down doesn't need to be in the back of the net.
- mayorofangrytown

Elliott has stood on his head in a number of games and kept the team in it. Including in the first period last night. It's unreasonable to expect him to continue to do that on a regular basis.

I said stable not good or elite. We can win games with Elliot as long as he isnt expected to stand on his head every game.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

I don’t think he’s stable at all. How many NHL teams willingly give up their starter for Elliot? You can’t look at the Flyers on their own without comparing to the rest of the league. Hell thats what playing this sport comes down to.

A stopgap is fine, but poor goaltending is as much to blame as anything else in my eyes. He’s had a good career, but he’s a backup at this point over an 82 game season imo.

You keep repeatedly asking this asinine question. It's not a question that you or anyone else can definitively answer.

Raffl out 6 weeks. He doesn't deserve to be in the lineup anyway.
So whatever.

I don't blame anyone. But it's par for the course with this franchise.

It’s a very obvious answer. You just don’t like it.

I cant shake my head at how stupid you are being. Why are other teams going to swap out their goalie for Elliot. Other teams have Elite goaltenders. I said he is stable which is a term you fail to comprehend. He gives them a chance to win games with minimal weak goals against. He is not a guy expected to carry a team LIKE OTHER NHL TEAMS HAVE! He is the type of Goalie that is successful with strong defensive teams like St.Louis was

Let's count the players on the roster who played in last night game who have
zero trade value. I count 8 out 20. By my gorilla math that's like 40%.
Pathetic.

Elliott
Pickard
Raffl
Weise
Weal
Gudas
Folin
Lehtera

Stable is an interesting concept. Is Elliot at this point a bottom 5 starter in the league. Is that the baseline for “stable?”

Raise the bar.

I dont agree with this, go figure.
Raffl is fine as a 4th line player the problem i have with him is when he is used as anything else.

And you don’t think the iron will remain hot?
- SuperSchennBros

Not if you gets banged up again like last year, or slows down his goal pace. His 7 goals so far and his play have shown he is still the same player from 2 years ago... for right now. But at some point age and injuries will catch up to you.

Do you trade him now for a player and a 1st (I have no clue what he could bring in)? Hand him a contract that he might not live up to? Or wait until the deadline and possibly hurt his value?

It doesn't matter what the answer is. It's irrelevant. If you had any idea, you'd know that.

The 4th line has been playing well and Raffl has been having a solid season. Opportunity knocks for someone.

The fourth line this season has primarily been Weise, Raffl, Lehtrera.
How many goals do you think they have combined for?

He's a bottom 5 starter because this team has been garbage defensively. Its like you dont even listen. Flyers play hockey as if Elliot is Carey Price or Jonathan Quick. If you give up odd man rushes every 5 minutes, yets teams are going to score lots of goals against you. Elliots stats are a reflection of the team not himself. He is at fault for 1 goal a game at most. What do you expect him to do when most goals are cross crease tap ins?

Raffl was also decent on our horrible pk. Hard to say this, but his loss might further affect our pk. We can't drop any lower can we?...

Because a players value should be judged on 9 games ?
As I said, I dont have a problem with Raffl on the 4th line, you do.

Its the 4th line. How many points do you think 4th liners get? They are more of a shutdown line.
