Almost the end of October and we are not out of the playoff hunt! Woo hoo!

I cannot wait for expectations to be high but for now games like last night are a treat.

- LandlordTom

Sadly, you aren't talking about the Bills.

Sigh.

Big test on Thursday. Most teams struggle first game off a long road trip. Sabres have struggled for years coming off a couple wins.

This is true, but most teams don’t have more than 3 full days off before the first game back.

These guys will have plenty of time to rest up and prepare

not sure if that's better or worse

This season has already been a roller coaster, just tempering my own expectations. Last game was almost too good.

The last 2 games have been great. I told myself before the season we would get some really good stretches and some really bad stretches as they figure out line chemistry and the kids begin to mature. But it is so hard to not get excited after a game like that.

Sam had another pretty set-up to Okposo on the PP.
It would be huge if he would get going on 5v5 playing with Mitts and Sheary on the 2nd line.

He is cruising along at a 45 pt pace...he needs to pick it up, and pick it up soon to contribute the full season. It would be nice if Botts could work in monthly incentives into Sams next contract to get him uber motivated all season long.

Pommer can stay on Jack's wing until he shows he is running out of gas.
Then throw Okposo there to see if his game can get re-ignited.

ERod deserves to play in the top 9 for sure. 3C with Bergy and ? Is the question. Does Tage stay up, or do they give Bustlander or Olofsson a look-see?

If only PP goals counted. It would've been nice to pick up a W in Anaheim ... c'est la vie.

Enjoy the ride!
To me, this is the fun, watching a developing team play.
If they play with effort each night, they should at least be entertaining and in most games.

Sam produces but everyone is negative.

Casey has nothing in the books yet but “things will work out”.

It’s all narrative, man!

terribly set expectations too. They're both okay. Id like to see Mittelstadt do less with the puck and shoot more.

Read Twitter. Mittelstadt is a bust because some people picked him for the Calder over Petterson, which made some twitter people upset.

So therefore, Mitts=Garbage

Unless my memory is fuzzy, I believe Casey has also been on the receiving end of a pair of questionable hits as well, and he's still in the lineup.

Depends on one's expectations.

Sam showed he can play at a very high-level when he is motivated.
Playing at 40-45pt pace isn't good enough IMO, especially if one needs the man advantage to put up a good portion of those points. He is in his fourth year with 250+ games under his belt.
ROR was run out of town for consistently throwing up 60pts, I would love to see Sam put up those numbers, especially playing a good portion of time on Jack's wing.

Maybe your expectations are different, that's fine.

Mitts is a rookie, 9 games in and to me shows a higher level of compete already.
He already is puting in the effort to develop a very good defensive game and be a terrific 2 way player. I'm confident based on what I have seen, he will be fine.

A better comparable for him would be Bustlander, but he is young so he needs a break cut for him.
There's a narrative.

His flashiness at times leads people to believe he can be on the same level as Eichel or something close to it.

He's been good at every level, but nowhere near Eichel good. His flash outpaces his actual production. I think that's added some unnecessary pressure on him. You can kinda see it in his play and body language.

Patrick Peterson wants to be traded.

Nate Peterson for Patrick Peterson seems fair to me. I GUESS we can add a few first round picks to balance it out.

Maybe on the pressure part.
Based on very evident hard work on the backcheck, I'd say the Coaches are in his head and he is focused on making sure not to screw up in that regard...and that is taking away from his free-wheeling offensive style we have seen most prominently in the WJ20's last season.
His defensive awareness and hustle at age 19 is impressive and is further along than Jack was in his rookie season, by far.
I am highly confident that when he learns to put the two (2) together, he will be awesome.

Isn't it fun to watch young guys like him and Dahlin developing before our eyes...and for Jack's on ice determination...he is playing great...making tough plays, winning battles along the wall, coming back hard...he is turning into an all around beast.
I see Casey becomming much the same, but different paths!

You gotta be kidding, right?

I thought Reinhart had a nice game last night, but he was absolutely invisible up until then. Like he’s been for LONG stretches every year he’s been a full time Sabre.

When Mittelstadt is 22 and that keeps happening, he will get the exact same treatment.

I mean my god, Casey at 18 put up 5 points in 6 games at 18.

Reinhart put up a near goose egg and got sent back to juniors

This isn’t all narrative. It’s reality

That would be hilarious if the Bills traded for him.
He wants out of Arizonia because of the deterioration the team has undergone.
Cruel friggin joke that would be.

Imagine the fan base going absolutely nuts if they included a high draft pick on him, another inveztment in the D.
The Clown might go friggin Postal

I wouldn't use a 1st to get him, but the Bills are at the bottom, looking to (vastly, probably) improve next year with all the new cap space. Getting Peterson to pair with White would be elite level.
