Point being that it is a bit of a chicken or the egg scenario...Pickard was a bit more of a rising prospect at the time, but Colorado was hot garbage and they they still managed to have one of the league's top PK's. Were they a great PK in front of Pickard or did he make them a great PK? How does a team that is bad and a goalie that is bad play so well a man down?p Throws a bit of a wrench into the personnel excuse the Flyers like to use.

I hear you and agree with a lot of this. My only point was just that a timely save or 2 would make this PK look better. They have done a better job of pressuring the pp before they set up, but the Dmen need to do a better job of coverage once it is set up. All that being said, if their goalies were playing well, I think they’d be a middle of the pack team on the PK.

Would I like to see Lappy replaced? Absolutely. But I’d also like to see the goalies bail out the PK now and then and that’s something rarely seen with this team this season.

Lehtera has been ok for the most part, but with Patrick back, I’d rather see Vorobyev centering the 4th line.

This is where I am at and I think it's his long range spot anyway. Future 3C will be Frost, Rubstov, JOB or the like. Get him used to his spot now...even if they platoon him with JL in a 70-30 or 60-40 split favoring Misha

Um ok, not sure what he did before here has any bearing. All I know is in the short sample I’ve seen him play for the Flyers, he’s looked like a career minor league goalie.
- BiggE

Unfortunately this season so has Elliott.

They're killing me Smalls.

In the NJ game both PK goals against were due to player execution issues.

If the Flyers consistently play defensively as they did against NJ, Elliott will be fine.
- MJL

Elliott, is clearly not fine, he has played Ok in 2 games (LV and NJ) and generally pretty bad in all the others. At this stage you need to have a goalie make a save when needed to create a spark on the team.
You have to stop blaming the players in front of him all the time for his mistakes and admit we have an issue again this year in net, let's not kid ourselves here.

As I've said previously numerous times, Lehtera needs to do a better job chipping in some points. A coach needs to have options available to him for situational play. Vorobyev is not ready for that role. Swapping those two will lead over use of Couturier and Giroux in defensive situations and have a negative effect overall. Not to mention that Patrick is back and Weal is playing well.
- MJL

so is it a reflection of the job the gm has done at the nhl level?

fine maybe but enough, not to sure about that...

I want him to succeed and he deserves some time coming off injury. Every team needs big saves at the right time on the PK, lets hope he does that here soon...

I know Morin has been skating but apparently he took the ice today in full equipment. Not sure if first time?

we agree... good example would be the 2nd PP goal, last game. Tough save, he needed to fight off the screen and be in better position, not easy but that is why they are big saves. The shot still could have went in but there was so much room there, it didnt need to be a good shot. Elliot deserves some time to work his way back into game shape, not much though.

he could've played it better for sure, but really just letting a guy walk in on a screened goalie isn't going to work out too often for anybody

I want that freak to make it. They burned a first rounder on him and he would be playing if it wasn’t for the injuries.

Give him to me, and send Mac into the abyss.

How many other NHL clubs would willingly take him as their starter. It’s not a big number. He’s not the sole reason for their struggles but piss poor goaltending has hurt them.

I think since you're into telling people what they should do, I think you should re-read what I posted and what I actually said.

He didn't even look bad, just predictably wasn't scoring as much as he was in the preseason. A couple uneven games and suddenly isn't NHL ready anymore lol. Why can't everyone just come up and be as good as Ghost?!?!

Some guys have to blow the door off multiple times.... Ghost came in through the wall, so there was no turning back for him.

Bad PK Coach + Some Bad Forwards + Some Bad Defensemen + Sub-Average Goalies = The Flyers PK

Per Bill's Twitter, Hak's quote on Vorobyev:

That's a hard trade-off right now. Misha's a young player. He needs to keep improving his game working during practice, as well as watching during games. That was one of the benefits of him watching what a couple of centermen are doing, and how he can assimilate some of those things into his game. There comes a point of time where he needs to go back into the lineup. We're not going to make a change today. That would unfair to the players that were in the lineup [on Saturday]. We want to get him back in the lineup, but he will get back in, and when he does, he's no different than anyone else. He has to compete to a level to hold that position. ...It's not his compete, but the consistency of it. It's something where, every player always thinks he's working hard. Misha is a competitive person but I believe the consistency of his play in all three zones can elevate.

Both goalies and team d are to blame for pk struggles and defensive lapses. Our goalies need to make routine saves AND bail us out every once in a while. We've had so many failed clears that a timely save and cover the puck would help. Can't blame goalie on odd man rush that ends up in back of net. We got that on Sat vs. NJD. Both goals were top shelf after Elliott went down. I guess when he is screened he goes into butterfly. Devils shot high on both goals. Team d needs to clear puck and not give up odd man rushes. Michael Leighton was a serviceable goalie for us. D had much to do with that.
