Brian Elliott interview very interesting....

Always comes back to structure and working for each other/together.

NOT "We played well, but just didn't get the breaks". Like a broken record.

Not sure if Nylander fits Colorado, but Barrie is being shopped.
- Glak18

not shopped, listening to offers of teams interested. Consistent message from Avs writers even from the summer. teams are calling and Joe isn't turning them away

With Makar coming and looking solid early on in his NCAA season. Ground work on any sort of deals could be starting for a guy like Barrie

2019-2020 was the proclamation with all the youth that they would be legit contenders.

I still believe Colorado could use another minute eater not named Erik Johnson. Depending how Zadorov develops more, Girard and Makar progression makes Barrie redundant. Then add a top 5 Ottawa pick.

Problem is Colorado needs to trade Barrie, but also get a D man at the same time. Maybe another 3 way trade with Ottawa, get Mark Stone and flip him for twice as much.

Thats why they got Cole, he's a place holder to eat more minutes. They have some good young Dmen in the system with Timmins (if he can get over this concussion) and Meloche.

Barrie trade will happen but just not now, they need him this season

Also like 99% of the league outside of Ottawa, everyone is going to open up the money bags if Karlsson hits market. Hold onto the dman now and figure it out this offseason

There's definitely some dissonance between what everyone sees and what Hak sees.

I mean, even if Hakstol is trying just to defend the lockerroom, saying "we played a pretty good game" is very charitable, at best, and negligent, at worst.

I know, got to love the super disconnect, even if it's just PR talk.

Coles been decent, hes the 5th Dman and can be leaned on every once in a while to play more minutes if any of the Top 4 guys arent going.

I agreed with a lot of things Hakstol said but I can't agree with that. I thought the Flyers made it too easy for Colorado. He said that the Flyers had about 15 grade A chances and that may be true, but when a goaltender is playing well and is sharp on his angles and seeing the puck well, he's going to make a lot of saves. Flyers didn't get enough traffic or second shot chances. Didn't get the puck to the net enough on the PP. Slow start and individual mistakes, soft coverages add up to a loss. The Flyers never threatened to win the game or to even change momentum in the game. I think if he truly feels that way, he needs to reassess that. That effort overall was simply not good enough.

Yikes.

At least take the Andy Reid route and take the blame yourself if you don't want to publicly bury guys. I feel like every post game win or loss you get the same thing from him.

Of what I saw, Hakstol for the majority of the press conference, was critical of the team.

Personally to me it's selfish, trying to preserve his job. Hak is the guy who walks into an empty room, farts and when someone walks in pretends he didn't fart.

How bout Elliott makes a few more meaningful saves before worrying about the "structure" infront of him. Ive had it with the goalies. Cant believe Im looking forward to seeing Neuvirth again.

It is just another season where when the best players are not playing like they are the best, the whole team looks like crap and falls apart.
