every year is a new year , do i think we are a platoff team? no , but do i think if things go well this team can compete for a wildcard ? sure why not us last year everyone thought LV could do nothing and we saw that happen

I'm projecting the team's 12.4% shooting to come back to earth

The best shooting teams last year were TB/WAS at 10.7%

League average was 9.2%

This exact date last year, the Canucks were 2nd in the Pacific and tied for 6th in the league. Obviously this team isn't the exact same, but I'm guessing you and others had the same vibe this time last year as well.

I'm happy with the wins this year more than in year's past since the top forwards are all young guys besides Sutter.

And lol, I clearly said "this team isn't the exact same"..come on man, it amazes me how people on this site don't take the time to read a post carefully before quoting it.

But like I said, I have my doubts about the forwards shooting %'s staying this high, I have my doubts about this defense, especially if/when 1 of Edler/Tanev go down. And I have my doubts about the goalies.

If you believe in this roster, all the power to you. You're free to think as you may.

But I'm still in sceptical group. Label me as whatever you'd like, but at the end of the day I want this team to have long term success as badly as you do.

What fans think will happen and what they want to happen are 2 very different things. Which is why I don't understand why a sceptical fan always get questioned about his fanhood. Saying you think the team will do poorly because of a below average roster doesn't mean that you want them to suck long-term

if Edler goes down we are toast , but Tanev i think can be covered for internally, players continue to evolve and develope so this team even with an average shooyingpercetage might just be ok, what i see , and what excites me most is the team seems to be a good mix of guys and they seem to be buying and playing to their strenghts

Fair point

but that probably gets cancelled out a decent amount by Nilsson's vezina-like numbers coming crashing back down to earth.

Fair enough, I have enjoyed the faster pace of play and I like that Green is emphasizing a strong forecheck.

I used to argue Tanev > Edler, but I agree that Edler would be way more difficult to replace. If he plays 75-82 games then that's big for this team.

fair enough, I'll admit that I'm guilty of labelling too

but sometimes they do bring it on themselves when they defend almost every player/decision the team makes and is sensitive toward any criticism.

Just like how some negative guys bring the "hater" label on themselves by saying things like "Horvat isn't a legit 2nd line center" or having a negative bias towards almost every player/prospect that Benning brings into the organization.

And a few games later Bo broke his foot. Then the team went on a losing streak and Sedins went from from 7 min a night to 14

well said
i guess , due to my age i still have the Canucks vs the world mentality and jump to defend them right away, but peoples bitterness to my team and its players is personal to me , i'm like don says , i bring it at games and go after opposing team fans but , not in a threating way just a passionate way

with sedins vs without - that's why it feels better

this team could have looked garbage out of the gate. the hysteria would be unbearable. people would be losing jobs. absolute turmoil.

ofc there's always some hysteria and soon it will be beagle/roussell/schaller's fault we're not getting a top 3 pick "we shouldn't have waived gagner because we'd be worse"... or something

this is so true i don't think a lot of fans really know how bad the team has to be to pull the oilers rebuild, and all i can hope is for lottery luck or excellent drafting

Remember when we used to mock Leaf fans for being cup favourites in October?

At no point did I say we aren’t terrible. We will be 5th worst imo. My tune hasn’t hanged since game 1.
