It’s not so much the Cap Hit,
as it is the player we are stuck with
Maybe we can give him to Seattle?
I’d prefer we never had him to begin with
And PLENTY of internet ink has been (and still is) wasted on Sabres who make much less - jdfitz77
I think what can be argued is whether we are "stuck" with him or not. Easy to buy out, not costly to trade and 2.85m if buried in the minors so nothing dire. |

Hey, you asked a question without knowing the answer, that's not my fault.
Edit: Sorry I missed Schwartz missed 2 games, Crosby hasn't though. - Wetbandit1
Entertaining discussion.
Sam needs to get going.
I think we can agree on that |

Maybe?
Idk, I can't argue argue about him anymore. He's on pace for a 4th consecutive 7 goal season. Well he's on pace for 0 goals, but maybe he'll get 7 again. There's always the intangibles - jcragcrumple

O I'd much rather have ROR then Berglund too. I don't think anyone would disagree with you there. Problem is there were FOUR MORE PIECES in that trade (3 if you want to discount the only player in the trade that has a goal on the season). That's not my point and I don't think(not speaking for anyone here) that anyone else is saying Berglund is the superior player. Again, how do you feel about ROR's contract now vs where it'll be in 3 years? - SDSabre
Impossible to say
But i don’t feel ROR is gonna have the huge drop off that other do
And I’m not trying to make this about the O’Reilly trade so much as I’m trying to say that we shouldn’t have wanted Berglund regardless
AGAIN
1) he’s not gonna score for us like he did with StL
2) he’s not at all a good defensive center, there’s a reason StL moved him to the wing
3) he’s slow, and doesn’t fit the “team speed” that Botts & Housley are trying to build
4) 4years on his contract, with a NTC
Even if we traded ROR to the Isles...
I wouldn’t have wanted us to bring in Berglund in a separate deal
He doesn’t fit the role we need him to play,
or the style we want to play |

That's not what I'm saying. What I am saying is there should've been 2 separate deals, 1 for O'Rielly and 1 deal to take on the craptracts of Bergy and Svbotka.
St. Louis would be in bad shape if they still had the two dinosaurs with those two crapyracts which was more than what Ryan was being paid. - MLew65
They had to move them to fit ROR's salary. We're also not taking into consideration where Botts comes from. Pittsburg incubated their young players in the A for quite a long time (many have said this is Botts philosophy). So while our young guys are currently killing it in the A, you need players to play in the show. Maybe that's why they were brought back, to keep the kids down. Now with how both are playing it'll be interesting to see what Botts does. |

We won’t miss him
He and Sobatka combine to play 31.5min a night
and have combined for 1g & 1a
That have won faceoffs for us...
but i heard those don’t matter 😂😂😂 - jdfitz77
Let's include tage and his ZERO points too.

That is such a bad take. Bogo and ROR for McNabb and that's it? We can get a McNabb replacement with the first rounder (probably better). You're forgetting that we traded him for nothing and he wasn't protected by the Kings. He had a decent year in Vegas, that hardly makes him worth ROR. Ludicrous - SDSabre
The Bogo comment aimed at him as being part of the St'Louis trade.

I hear ya, it is tiresome.
Like that 4th line of him, pommer and rod. As long as he isn't getting top9 minutes it seems better. Good PK work thus far this year by him. |

Alright
I guess I’ve been too strong on the “stuck with him”
But if he continues this play all season,
it’s tough to see a team trading for him
And to bury him,
it costs us 2.85 PLUS the Cap hit of the player we replace him in the lineup with
So it’s gonna be at least 3.5
Regardless... it’s not ideal
And these are the guys we are trying to phase out & move on from
Not the kind of guys we should be bringing in |

Fair. See my post below yours a 'possible' reason for Berglund and the dirty pod racer coming back. There are so many ways this could viewed, and I don't think it's as easy Berglund sucks, take him out back like ol' yeller.

Berglund sucks. It's been reported - Boss34
I was HUGE in saying i was upset about Tage (dumb name too, lol) being the young piece we got back
Only 6 games though
So I’m not giving up on him yet
I do think it’s dumb putting him on a “defensive” line though
Either play him with Jack or Mitts,
or send him down
And he’s got this great shot supposedly...
let’s try to work it to him on PP2,
like we do with Jack on PP1
At least try to put the kid on a position where he can be successful |

I think Berglund has absolutely sucked so far.
I also don't judge a guy with 170 goals in 600 something games off of a 6 game sample on a new team |

I think that there's a solid chances that they five pieces for ROR that at the very least one will turn out for BUF. But that's just my spicy take of the afternoon. |

Well I’ve seen ppl on here saying that StL could’ve moved Berglund to another team
So we should’ve said ok to that
Sobatka they might not have been able to
So while i also don’t like him,
at least we only had 2years of his deal left
