I just want to point out that ROR has 0 goals, 2 even-strength points, and 2 primary points (goal or first assist) in 6 games played. Is this pace going to continue? Idk, probably not, I'm guessing you'd say. But then why can't Berglund start playing a little better up to his standard as well. My point is it's a little premature to write anybody (except Larsson, that guy SUUUCCKS) off just quite yet with the turnover and what I'd imagine is a semi-new team concept. - SDSabre
Could Berglund start playing better?
MAYBE
But here why i doubt it...
1) the 17goals/57games
That was playing the WING on a GOOD team... it’s just not happening here
2) defensive center role
What makes us think he can be a good defensive center here, when StL moved him to the wing bc they didn’t like how he was playing at Center?!
3) Botts/Housley wanted us to get faster this season
Well, Berglund is anything but fast-
so he doesn’t even fit into the team dynamic they’re trying to move towards
Like i said...
If I’m wrong, I’ll own it
But i don’t think I’m gonna be |

Any other " core" goal scoring leaders from last year, not scored yet for their team?

That’s a fair point
But when u consider what we got back for ROR, it just sucks
Berglund & Sobatka are both guys we could do without
And i didn’t like that Thompson was the young player we got
We really couldn’t get someone better from them when we were taking Sobatka AND Berglund off their hands?
Then we shouldn’t have made the deal - jdfitz77
I think we got fleeced once again.
Bergland a Svbotka's contracts were albatrosses around St. Louis's neck. We had the leverage to get better but got skiddish.
What we got was Tage Thompson and a 1st rd protected pic, which. I think shouldn't have been protected.
Taking Bergy & Svobotka's craptracts (new word for sh itty contracts) should've been 2 2nds. Remember Las Vegas was given high picks for taking on bad craptacts, so why couldn't GMJB do the same?
A #1 center should be a high price item to aquire. We took "food stamps" from the poor craptract laiden St. Louis Blues.
We did them a huge favor by including them in the deal when we could've kept O'Rielly and dealt him at another time getting a better deal.

No, Berglund doesn’t suck
But he’s extremely average
And if he isn’t gonna be a good defensive center for us,
then we might as well be playing Nylander
He’s just another ”Pouliot”
Difference is that he’s here for 4 freaking years

Patrik Berglund 🤮 - jdfitz77
Don't think Berglund is being counted as a "core" contributor like ROR is supposed to be. That's fine that you don't like Berglund and to a lesser extent dirty pod racer, because of contract length, but I'll ask for a second time: How do you feel about ROR's contract now vs where it'll stack in 3 years? You don't have to answer but I know how I feel about it. He's already looking slower then he did 2 years ago. And he's got what, 6 more years on that deal? |

Keller was completely invisible vs. Buffalo.
Sam isnt playing 3rd line center this year with non NHL players?
He is getting prime ice time and pp time with eichel.
Excuses are running thin.
-5 in 6 games. That's hard to defend, but I'm sure you'll find a way.

Yeah, we all know u seem to prefer mediocre players to good ones
Sorry...
i should’ve compared Berglund to your boy Armia
Berglund will score closer to the 13goals that Pouliot got for us,
than the 20goals u say he can get to
Bet me |

So you're upset that a below average 1C (Giving the benefit here, as I think he's worse then that) should get more then 2 average players, a first, a second, and high prospect? I mean, I'll take that for ROR all day. And I don't mind him. It's just when you actually dig into the numbers and see that he plays a (frank) ton of minutes, ROR isn't anything more then slightly above average in any facet of the game except FO. |

There was a reason or many reasons we traded ror.
Maybe he's not a #1 center?
Maybe his bad attitude brought his value down?
We got the 2nd for berglunds contract
Sobotka, 1st and tage for ror. That's not as bad?

Look at it this way: last year we couldn't have scratched someone of Berglund's caliber. The traded afforded us a certain amount of depth.
O'Reilly is better than any of these guys. But there are positives |

I’d MUCH rather have ROR than Berglund
We’ve beat that to death though
Point is...
Berglund isn’t a guy we should’ve wanted
He’s not playing well,
And he’s got 4 years left
We traded for a guy who was MOVED TO THE WING, and are asking him to play tough minutes as our defensive center
That’s a guy we are “counting on”
And that was a dumb idea imo

Nah dude, a guy who literally just came off of a 17 goal in 57 game season is undoubtedly going right on our 4th line next year - sbroads24
To be fair, once you factor in the playing for Buffalo algorithm, then those 17 goals go down to like 6. |
