Im actually betting on that. No league gives more security and guarantees to mediocre players than the NHL. I dont think that sits well with the owners. I dont know what they'll offer up to convince the PA, but I think they'll revisit reducing contract length and re evaluating how NMC/NTC's are handed out (cause right now it's like candy).

Edit: for god sake the oilers gave Koskinen a no move clause. He hadn't been in the league since 2011!

Sure, Alex Smith is a decent QB
But they traded up for Mahomes bc they wanted to upgrade

He’s a rookie QB that played against bad collage teams... he sucks this year, but he is also the best QB on this team right now and it not even close... blame the dumbass GM and coach for screwing that up (again). The kid needs to play because there is nothing else here, hopefully he learns during the course of the year.

Being a gate driven league makes it tricky, the players have quite a bit of leverage here.


I think we'll end up with a shortened season, something like 48-60 games. Unless there's something we don't know, none of the issues are enough to warrant canceling an entire season.

If I'm the players I absolutely don't cave on that. Why should I pay for management's (frank) ups? No one is forcing them to give out that many NMC/NTCs.

It's like the drunken sailor on shore leave on July 1st spending. Though that has chilled out a bit in the past few years. The owners give out a poop load of money and then cry poor, they have no one to blame but themselves for the aforementioned idiocy.

I wouldn't cave either, the NHL would have to offer something substantial. The players already caved and paid for managements mistakes once before ( see new 8 year term limit).
