I'm hoping both aren't playing.

We need a gentlemen's agreement - both teams play their backups.

Then sit back and enjoy the 12-11 game.

Maybe he's there to secretly meet Putin and turn the Leafs into a Russian vassal state

High scoring may actually be pretty likely with Andersen and Murray (current form), who will start for us today.

Yeah, right... If he wanted to secretly meet up with Putin, he could have just gone to Washington, D.C. Why are they both travelling to Switzerland. ?

Mathews played in the swiss league. I wonder if dubas is there to see a potential prospect playing there and nylanders agent blinked and asked for the meet, realizing that he and nylander are losing this standoff because Toronto has given them different offers and are holding firm to their budget. Question is does Nylander look after his future with a 7 or 8 year deal at 6 to 6.15 mil or does he risk every thing on a short term deal at 3.5 to 5 mil for 2 to 5 yrs

I think it's more likely that Nylander's agent is trying to create leverage by dangling a face to face meeting with a swiss club in front of Dubas.

I doubt it; I think Dubas was there to tell Willy that he will not be trading him.

How would threatening to play for less than $1,000,000 in Switzerland create any leverage?

Because they're desperate at this point?

It's like going to Home Depot and telling them that if they don't give you good customer service then you're never going to shop there again.

I don't know if there's much more depth to this than what's been presented on the surface. Good on Dubas to take the necessary steps to work directly with Nylander and not just through the agent. It will also give him a real read on the lay of the land (is it bad advice, or is it Nylander's own expectations)

Supposedly Nylander wants a high value contract because it creates a level of security by having a harder-to-trade contract. He can't get an NTC/NMC until 27, but if he signs a team-friendly deal, the wolves will be at the door.

If Dubas can reassure him that he is not someone they wish to trade and that he is a part of the future, and Nylander believes him, he might lower his request to a more realistic and reasonable rate.

That being said, if he still wants $8m on a long-term or $6m on a bridge, then he still hasn't come to grips with the reality of his value.

Your analogy doesn't work, because there's never anyone working in the aisles of Home Depot to complain to.

Perhaps Nylander is pulling a Kyrie Irving and does not want to be 4th fiddle.......

Carolina or Arizona could use him

I have to disagree, to an extent.. I think if Nylander signs a "team-friendly" deal, that he won't be traded, as that actually helps us more. If he signs for $8M or whatever it is he wants, he's more likely to be traded.. We wouldn't be able to afford the big 4.
