I'm just going to say it, I don't like Dave Hakstol as an NHL coach.
I think he is a good developmental coach, for the most part. When it comes to getting young men to work as part of a system and help them to refine their overall games, I think he does a good, not great, job.
But when it comes to other aspects of his coaching, I am left wanting. Beyond his goaltending choices and timeout usage, I do not think that he is the coach that will take this team to the next level. I feel that he overrelies (even for an NHL coach) on "safe" and "consistent" players in key situations based on how he feels about them as opposed to what players have the best skillsets for those situations. I feel that his lineup decisions also favor players that he is comfortable with as opposed to players who are unknown, which stifles the scratched players from being able to gain his trust. I know some players may be better in practice, but practice and game are two very different situations.
Again, this is how I feel about him. And I realize that the things I don't like about him can be attributed to all coaches, I simply feel that he is more guilty than others. And this doesn't have to do with the Vorobyov scratching, just made me realize that I really don't agree with a lot of his moves (though I understand them). I hope I'm wrong and that he leads this team to 18 consecutive Stanley Cups in the next 20 years. But I don't feel in my heart that he will.
CENTER! We are weak a center! Center is a problem at the moment. Can you stop changing the subject to fit your agenda?? - SuperSchennBros
When Patrick is back I wouldn't mind Cooter, Patty, Laughton. Not the strongest group but i wouldn't say that is a weak group. 6 games in man take it easy, WFC isn't burning down.

They moved Laughton back so you might want to look at adding his stats from last game to your agenda... - dragonoffrost
Wow, I wish I was this clueless.
Our goaltending is up and down. The team is playing well defensively. Our centers haven’t been producing in six games. Yet, somehow everything is fine because our wingers are carrying the load...

I’m saying center has been weak to start the season.

two of our wingers are elite players who put up 102 points and maybe 82, something like that last year. Add in Simmonds who is a 30 goal scorer, so yes the WINGS WILL BE CARRYING THIS TEAM.

I'm just saying if you want to scream about someone's agenda you might want to have your facts correct also.

Really this team will be driven by one line and PP1 with Patrick and JvR out...which is exactly what we are seeing
Im pretty sure just about every coach in the NHL relies on players they are comfortable with or uses safe and consistent players in specific situations. - opeth_pa
Which is why I said, "And I realize that the things I don't like about him can be attributed to all coaches, I simply feel that he is more guilty than others."
I’m not talking about the team as a whole. If you’re refusing to see the weakness, that’s not my problem. Are we scoring? Sure we are, but everything else isn’t looking too good, especially in the defense of zone. - SuperSchennBros

What facts do I have wrong?
You stupidly told me to add Laughton’s stats because he was just moved to center. He was likely moved there because center was a weak point this season

IT ADDS A POINT TO THE NUMBERS YOU POSTED...Cause he was a freaking CENTER when he scored it. And in a sample size of 6 silly games 1 point is not marginal.

Simmonds had two even strength goals if I'm not mistaken last game and he has looked like he will have abounce back season. call it one and a half lines.
No disrespect. I promise. You said the exact same thing when I mention that the second unit power play still looks as bad as it has in part seasons after two games. Tonight is game seven, nothings changed.
Now obviously we can only go up from here as far as our Centerman go but I think we need a big game from our centermen tonight, starting with Coots. - SuperSchennBros
Certainly a big game from Coots would be great, but until Patrick comes back and starts to play the way he did the 2nd half of last year, they will be thin up the middle.
I don’t think moving Giroux is the answer, especially with JVR out. It would just leave them extremely thin on the left side. Plus, Giroux has thrived on the wing and has been producing all season so far. I’d leave him alone.
The struggles of the 2nd team pp are to be expected especially with JVR and Patrick both out. Also, I think most NHL teams 2nd units would be struggling if they routinely only got 25-30 seconds to work with and had to start with the puck in their own zone.
Provorov eats the most minutes on the team and isn’t a center. - SuperSchennBros
Yes. But you're talking about making moves based on 6 games to start the season as opposed to larger samples, like recent seasons.
So using that logic, based on the first 6 games, Provorov should either be a healthy scratch or dropped to the 3rd pair with his minutes heavily reduced. Wouldn't you agree?

*plays devils advocate*
Ghost, Gudas and Hagg are picking up the slack for Provy. We aren't weak at D scoring. +/- on the other hand is a disaster which can be attributed to lazy backchecks by the forward core giving away a ton of odd man breaks especially when Provorov is on the ice.
