It's up to Hextall to determine if that's due to the coach or players tuning said coach out.
Given these players track records I'm not so sure it isn't that latter. - hereticpride
I agree, no doubt.
But with a full training camp you would think that the team would at least look like they have played a couple of games together.
They currently look like a Saturday night, at Hollydell, where a bunch of guys got together and rented out the ice, for an hour or two, and have never played a game together. |

So you think that 6 games into the NHL season the players have decided to tune out the coach and sabotage the season?

TEAM loss. Bundy is amazing. Play the game simple. Make basic plays. Win. Boom. - Glak18
No doubt. They have the skill to rely on if they can do that.

No one wants to play the "Let's assume everyone's intentions" game. Only thing that matters is results and the results have been awful for years. Yes it was great they made the playoffs last year, but it was not a good year either.
What needs to happen to fix it? If the answer is just time then its a failure for me. |

They are 3 games under 500 under Hakstol in 4+ seasons. What do you think the problem is? |

I miss Roman Checkmanek - corduroy
I don't!
Talk about a terrible goalie that had a team in front of him to make him look 100x better than he was. |

When an up and coming team improves from the previous season and makes the playoffs, it's a good year. So I disagree with you there.
The Flyers are not playing good hockey right now, there is no doubt. The issues that are plaguing the team aren't due to a lack of talent or due to not being a good team. The issues are completely fixable.
The team is also missing 3 key players as well as having some very key players not playing as well as they can.
82 games is a long season and there is a ton of hockey to play.

I think that is a silly question. Each season has to be looked at individually. Hakstol did a strong job with the team last season and maximized what the team was capable of in my opinion. The problems with the team currently are obvious. Hakstol is not the problem.

The team looks like they have no confidence in the system they are supposed to be playing. That’s unacceptable three plus years into a coach’s tenure, especially with very few new faces this season.
Coaches have been fired for a lot less in this league. And Chicago famously hired Quenneville after firing Savard four games into a season. |

I don't think we saw this last year. Last season the Flyers were one of the better 5 n 5 teams defensively all season. The PK was the big issue. This year the Flyers have been a mess defensively as a team.

Unfortunately, as they say, you can't fire the team.
Is the Hakstol watch officially on? - 77rams
It has been since the 10 game losing streak last year.
Their slogan this year is Raise the bar. Hak is drilling that bar down to the Earth’s core. |

Do you think that Giroux weakly throwing the puck out into the middle of the ice high in the offensive zone and Voracek lazily back checking is the system? Or how about the countless giveaways and poor puck management, or bad goaltending. Any of that part of the system?
This has squat to do with the coaches system.

But a good coach would break them of those bad habits so they don't happen game after game. :eyeroll: |

Players have to execute. Like I said, all last season the Flyers were a solid team defensively at 5 on 5. Now we want to pretend it's the system? How about we blame the players for a change and not just the ones we don't like.
