Question:
If Nylander holds out past the December deadline, and is thereby ineligible to play in the NHL this year, does that get him any closer to being a UFA (i.e., do the Leafs lose a year of his RFA status?) or is the year a complete wash with no impact on how many years he has left as an RFA? |

Would he not have to play the year, to use up an RFA status year?

Zaitsev will likely be scooped up in the Seattle expansion draft. Which would help our situation.
Dermott's next contract will be pretty cheap so we will want to keep him around.

Yep Everyone, including myself thought they would be a top team in the West. Boy, were we all ever wrong. I know it's early and still tons of time for them to turn it around but I just don't see it. - LeafGuy89
Lots of time to turn it around.
Lets see how they are after 20. |

Why do they have to let one or two go?
Marleau will be off the books, gardiner will be gone.
I wouldn't mind getting rid of Z. Although hes been ok so far |

Because Marner and Matthews went from 8mln and 11mln (preseason) to 10 and 13million.
