Honestly think the Pens should look at giving Martin the reins, Pens arent able to overwhelm teams with speed/skill anymore, the league has caught up to them, like someone posted above Sullivan seems like he is unwilling or unable to alter his system. It may be time to become more of a defensive team like how they were playing against the Caps in the 2017 cup run. |

Grant/Sprong-Cullen-Sheahan
So Sprong might be sitting next game? - Thorny87
I'm glad they're ending the Brass at wing experiment. Now just get Hornie back on the 1st line and prioritize getting pucks on net.
I liked Sullivan's comments the other night. They're playing too much east/west instead of simply getting pucks on net.
I don't have a problem with Sprong sitting for a game as long as it's only the odd game every now and again. But seriously, Sheahan needs to be centering and Cullen should be the guy watching from the stands. |

Watching the game, for almost an instance, I'd see Letang or Maatta or even Johnson and think, wow, decent play, only for a turnover in the next sequence or a stupid shot that results in Vancouver turning it the other way. |

I'm 166 to 150 at the moment. My opponent has got about 90 Leaves players that all scored goals the other day. So I'm expecting to get pumped tomorrow (& lose ground ). |

Has anyone taken into consideration the no video game policy the Nucks implemented? That surely is behind the loss. |

Completely agree, finally ban all that superhot pin-up-girls in Pens dressing room! And why do all these player's wives give birth in October, didn't those guys concentrate hard enough just on hockey in January? Unacceptable! Soft!!

I think its more so the Pens not coming out with any kinda urgency once again and only really turning up the volume in the 2nd half of game.
EDIT: oh and also, the D is a mess. |

Sad but true. After preseason I had hope he still had something but it's not looking like it. |

It's all Fortnite's fault. It was cleverly designed by developers in Washington in the summer of 17 to de throne the Penguins. Cyber warfare at it's finest. |

The Pens still have the legs to be an attack team, but just need to stop dumping/chasing and too much pinching.

I've got a lock on last place in the fantasy league for sure...I cannot imagine anyone having worse results. Currently down 146-70 and the first two weeks I got blown out as well. |

I don't want to neuter the defensemen from pinching. I think the issue is that the defensemen are pinching and the forwards aren't putting in a good faith effort to generate a cycle, so there's frequent turnovers on the boards that make the pinches look a lot more idiotic than they are. If the forwards would show more fight on the forecheck, the pinches would be a lot more useful and less odd man break inducing. |

There’s no puck support in those situations and no organization. It seems like there’s no plan.
EDIT: The D pinches and the forwards are also playing too deep. |

No worry buddy, each week starts from zero and there are still 17 of them to go... its an uphill battle for all beginners, because the old rabbits are really a step ahead in experience and consistency, but we have to learn and rise on the challenge. |

That's the thing about hockey, you can't fake urgency. It sticks out like a sore thumb when you're not motivated. I've even seen Sid do a couple of fly by's on turnovers.
I'm disappointed in most of the roster. I'd say Phil and Letang have been our best players.....easily. Everybody else is extremely inconsistent.
I'm also growing concerned that none of our left handed D are capable of playing on the right side. Which makes the Schultz injury much worse. I'd seriously contemplate giving Ruhwedel a jersey tonight. |

Man, if they pair Ruhd with JO it'll be a feast for the Leafs. I think it will anyway but that pairing is brutal. I wonder if a good solid ass kicking is what this team needs. Leafs are more than capable of delivering it. |

Excellent blog Ryan, I get so excited before every Pen game and then I see Jack Johnson making me vomit between periods, what a cull he is. The defence other than Letang is brutal. I agree Sprong needs to play regularly with Crosby and Guentzel if he is going to develop into a Kapanen. What is wrong with management? Brassard is the 3C and not a first line winger. Will be interesting against the Leafs, can see a 7-6 game coming up. |
