Glad they got the 2 points but their start this season has been pretty mediocre asside from 2 games vs Vegas. 2 wins vs upcoming divisional foes would be a big step in the right direction.
Weal played great last night. I hope they continue his opportunity at C with Konecny and Lindblom. Id actually shake up the other 2 scoring lines.
Giroux Patrick Voracek
Laughton Couturier Simmonds
Lindblom Weal Konecny - Baxter27

Those are the lines I proposed earlier. I like Vorobyev, but he is struggling and probably would benefit from more time at LHV. - BiggE
Just so we're clear; you are both advocating Weise being a full-time member of this roster. Granted, he's been better than abysmal this year (probably realizes he's playing for his future), but he's still Weise. |

Totally agree.
Also I would like to see Konecny back on that top unit. they need to get him going and I think getting him with Couturier and Giroux would help. Also, while i know Voracek plays well with Giroux, I just prefer him on the 2nd line where he is the main guy for some reason. Once Patrick is healthy I would look to this:
Giroux - Couturier - Konecny
Lindblom - Patrick - Voracek
Weal/Laughton - Laughton/Weal - Simmonds
Raffl - Lehtara - Weise - J35Bacher
Watching Vorobyev really hammers home the point that has been made about preseason vs regular season. |

Actually okay. He doesn’t cry too much. I have been home last two weeks with an ability to take naps. We’ll see what happens when I get to the office - VladDrag

At this point he is better than Vorobyev unfortunately, maybe better is not the word but adds more value in the bottom 6. |

I think he would benefit from some time at LHV right now, but I think he'd earn his way back up at some point during the season.

I agree, he's been largely a non-factor. Let him go down and get some more playing time in LHV. Could still be a first call-up candidate at C. |

FWIW, I think the problems with the Flyers D are due more to ill fitted pairings than anything else
-BiggE
Besides Provorov’s mysterious start and AMac still not healthy, it is pretty much what you’ld expect. You are right that the pairings don’t fit. I am of the opinion that they will have to muddle though most of the season. Get improvement and growth especially from Hägg and Sanheim and see if help can come later in the form of Morin, Myers, or a healthy AMac. Or possibly a trade.
Gudas hasn’t earned enough trust in my opinion to be slotted above 4th. For his own good as well, he needs to be where he can thrive. Couple that with Provy’s current performance level, and I cannot see that pairing being pretty.

If it was up to me? No, I'd demote his ass and replace him with Aube-Kubel, but they aren't going to do this right now. So then it comes down to Weise vs Vorobyev playing out of position and only 8-9 minutes per game on the 4th line. I'd rather have the kid playing 15+ minutes and in many more situations in LHV than that so that leaves us stuck with horseface.
Once JVR comes back, and if by some miracle all are healthy, then I'd move Laughton back to wing and go with:
G-Coots-TK
Lindblom-Patrick-Jake
JVR-Weal-Simmonds
Laughton-Lehtera-Raffl |

True and it's nothing new. I remember guys like Drew Callendar, Magnus Roupe, Jiri Latal, and others having strong preseasons and then quickly disappearing once the games began to count. The difference is night and day. |

I think folks are being victims of the moment with Weal, he has a good game and now we want him in the lineup. He will probably have a couple invisible games these next two and people will be calling him off the roster again |

Or they could click and start playing very well together. I've seen struggling players, both forwards and D, put together on a line or a D pair and all of a sudden it just clicks. It's worth a try, the current pairings aren't exactly lighting the world on fire right now.

We shall see. He's been defensively responsible in pretty much all of his games this season and last night he finally generated some offense. Again, it's not like anyone he'd be keeping out of the lineup right now is doing anything more.

My issue with Weal is his consistency. He has NHL-level skill, but he's easily knocked off the puck and the only way he'll win a 50/50 puck is by outworking the other guy.
When he's on his game, he's a very capable top-9 player who can play top-6 or even spot fill on the top line. But he needs to do that every game to make up for his shortcomings, and (to me) he doesn't do it consistently enough. |

He's been a center his entire career going back to Russian junior and he definitely has a center's skill set. I'd be very hesitant about moving him to wing, it could end up doing more harm than good.

I was thinking of Vorobyev centering Laughton and Simmonds while van Riemsdyk is out.
