I would rather have them in the A succeeding rather than with the Sabres and in a bottom 6/bottom pairing role.
- CoHo_to_B-Lo

If both were getting PP time, I don't think I'd mind personally.

Housley likes his PP to be bottom 5. Would never happen

Team has looked better.

Still think Housley isn't ready. Never was or will be either. PP deployment is one indicator.

Right. You are saying he’s eventually going to be a cap dump for us.

Fitz is saying he was a cap dump for St. Louis, which isn’t true.

You pay other teams to take on a cap dump. Berglund would have been scooped up by numerous teams if he was available before the O’Reilly trade

- sbroads24

Whatever u wanna call it
They wanted him & Sobatka gone

Sobatka isn’t a huge deal, bc he’s only here for 1 more year after this

Berglund has 3 more years left after this
If u don’t think that’s a contract they wanted gone... then you’re blind

Call it what u want...
but we are gonna want him gone soon too

No way. Nothing says protection for star players then intentionally hurting other teams star players.

This is a fact? I never once heard Berglund floating around as being available before the trade.

There’s a difference between St. Louis fans telling you they wanted him gone and St. Louis management actually pushing to trade him.

A “cap dump” is trading someone solely for cap reasons, and literally paying the other team to take on the salary.

Berglund was included to make the money work. Giant difference

You are right.
It does fell like that again...and I was excited back then to watch these prospects develop properly and see them build a solid team through those prospects.
Oh well, hopefully we get to see that this time versus trying to rush it.

I am pretty high on Samuelsson too, and Davidsson seems to just keep getting better and better, so hopefully that keeps the heat on the new guys when they join the team.

Patience is going to be key this year

Fine. Don’t call it a Cap Dump if u wanna get into semantics

It’s a bad contract bc he has an NTC,
and it lasts for 3 more years after this

Are u trying to say we should want the “speedy” Berglund for that long?
Bc i sure don’t

By the end of the contract sure. I'm not gonna roast the guy after 6 games played. But he hasn't looked good. Every team has a contract that raises an eyebrow or two. Problem is the Sabres have had about 6 of those at any one given time over the past 6ish years. Berglund at 3.85 isn't going to sink the Sabres at the end with the cap most likely rising (And maybe a compliance buyout/Seattle)

I get your point, but the counter argument here could be that they did. Remember, they picked up ROR's big ass bonus. It's likely that had this gone past the bonus payment deadline, the deal would be sans berglund and likely one of thompson/1st rounder

NMC/NTC become null and void when a player agrees to waive it for a trade.

It’s up to the acquiring team whether or not to carry on with those stipulations for the remainder of the deal.

I don't think that's how it would have gone done. You're saying the Sabres pay the 7.5M, don't get Berglund nor Thompson/1st? Seems like the Sabres would have gotten more (albeit, how much and what IDK) had they paid the bonus. The Blues are up against the cap I believe, so they had to make the cap work.

I think it would've turned into no berglund and the first turning into some conditional 2nd rounder.

I dont buy that the price would go up because there were really only 2 suitors for him (MTL and STL). Once montreal bowed out Botts lost a ton of leverage. I think they wanted at least a good prospect and first and St louis wanted Berglunds cap hit off the books so they said they'd give up the first+thompson and pay the bonus as long as the sabres could take both Berglund and Sobotka.

If it goes to august the deal is probably Sobotka, Thompson, two 2nd rounders. Its not as much about his value as much as it is that STL could wait it out to get their price.

Sorry, I thought it was per year, not for 3 years

Sam

6gp
0 goals
3 assists
-5

Any other " core" goal scoring leaders from last year, not scored yet for their team?

we shouldn’t have been taking another one on

They don’t necessarily

Idk the particulars of this deal,
but Berglund very well could’ve said he’d only waive to come to Buffalo if the Sabres will agree to honor the NTC after he’s here

Cap Friendly still has him listed with one
I haven’t seen anything else that says 1 way or the other

We had to get rid of ror.
It just wasn't working here.

How many real trade partners were actually out there?

Had to take back $.
Berglund and sobotka are both salary dumps.
Neither is good
