Is he?
He took the brunt of the abuse while Captaining terrible terrible Leafs teams, was hands down the most charitable Leaf during his tenure and pushed a lot of his teammates to do likewise.
Captained us to the playoffs and broke a 10-year drought.
He left without putting up a struggle when he knew his time was done here.
Have zero problem with Phaneuf. He got a big payout that he couldn't live up to, that's about it. |

Interesting stat; After FIVE games this season Drew Doughty had not been on the ice for a SINGLE goal against. 46 seconds against the Leafs changed that. |

Also worked his ass off in the offseason with our prospects and young players helping them get better and show up in top shape ready to go to give them the best chance to succeed.
No real issue with Dion, they didn't use him right at all either. He is an offensive dman, they tried to make him a stay at home d man. Of course he was going to struggle. And the teams were terrible absolutely. And he NEVER shirked the media and bore the brunt of it on pretty broad shoulders too! |
