Most NHL players grew up dreaming of playing for the Leafs.

Patrick Kane grew up in Buffalo, so he obviously dreamed of getting the hell out of there and coming to Toronto. Judging by his mullet, he actually dreamed of moving to Scarborough.

As a young boy, Zach Parise would listen to his dad tell stories about playing for the Leafs - the happiest times J.P. had as a professional. And he loved Garfield.

I still holding my breath on Zaitsev. Better than last year but still some brutal pinches like the first shift against the caps to give up a goal 18sec into the game. I do expect him to continue to improve.
OZ has been improving game to game which is great and Dermott is finding his game. Those two looked good together last night.

- Dr. Leaf

Zaitsev and Dermott led the Leafs in ice time last night.

I didn't get to watch much of the game last night, so I don' really have an opinion on their play, but hey, If Babsie played them the most, he must have seen something he liked.

Matthews is doing just fine without Willie. In fact, I imagine if Nylander is placed on the Kadri line teams are going to go into fits trying to decide which line to focus on.

Having said that, Nylander+ for Parayko. Make it happen Dubas!

- mjones242

I think Nylander stays off the top line until they start slowing down, or if the team loses a few games.

Once lineups start getting changed though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Marleau and Kap winging Kadri, and Nylander and a Leivo/Johnsson up with Matthews.

I would love to rock that sweatshirt.

I still have a Leafs tie of Kermit the Frog scoring on Fozzie Bear - I just don't have the heart to throw it out.

Dermott looked really good last night. He was breaking up transitions at his own blue line and really pushing the puck up. I didn't love what I saw from Zaitsev and thought Ozhiganov had a much better game then he did.

I thought Zaitsev was good last night. Multiple times he stepped in front of the cycle and broke it up. I know he gets a lot of blame on here but he broke a lot of plays up.

Yup that's what I had noticed too. He played a good game last night. That little pass to Hainsey from the corner after the takeaway on the PK to clear the puck was one of those little plays that have a big impact.

Dermott had more ice time then GardinOrr, maybe it's a sign that Babs is losing trust in Gards

Cause the media got tired of asking McDavid and Matthews that very same question

Because it's a fantastic question for media.

If the answer is "Matthews is as good as McDavid", the media can spin it in an anti-Toronto fashion.

And if the answer is "Matthews isn't as good as McDavid", well, the media can spin it in an anti-Toronto fashion.

I was twelve minutes late yesterday. I’ve been informed I’ve been suspended for two days. Not happy but have to live with it. I will serve it the last Thursday and Friday of this month. Sorry again.

Wait. O'Neill is suspended from his own job because he was late for work, most likely not for the first time?

Except for really important days, I don't think I've been less than 12 minutes late for the past 20 years.

I don’t think many people outside Toronto would take Matthews over Mcdavid though. Just a dumb thing to even be talking about anyway.

Weren't there reports that during the Arizona Summit last summer, Matthews expressed his desire to play with Marner?
- Atomic Wedgie

Oh no, Matthews and Marner are signing offersheets with AZ. That sealed it. You have ruined my day.

... Leafs fans will get blamed for this stupidity.

He isn't better than McDavid.
I would take Marner over Draisaitl though
