overall pretty good game... and despite Sparks being a career AHLer... he looked like he elevated his play over the Chicago game, made a couple or three really tough saves as well.
I like what I saw from Oz and Zaitsev last night as well. Gardiner looks "checked out" to me. This whole parenting thing might be too much for him, and with Rielly getting the primo PowerPlay spot .. .Gardiner ain't getting 50 pts this year. - BorjeFan4Ever
One shot on net...All year. |

It works both ways, after a few decent games people think hes a superstar that could replace willie.
I dont recall anyone saying he was only going to be an ahler, most said a quality bottom 6 guy. I thought a 3rd liner who could play 2nd line when needed.
Its only been a couple of games, hes looked good playing with the best. Will it hold up over the course of a season...we'll see.
But great game by the leafs and sparks last night. - Fakepartofme
IMO, Kaps doesn't help boost Matthews. Nylander is a guy that does boost Matthews. I like Kaps, I think he is a good replacement on Matthews line while Nylander is out but he doesn't have the skill hands or vision that Nylander does. Kaps settling in on a line with Kadri would be perfect with Nylander playing beside Matthews.
I think he will sign anytime now. |

He has 6 points in 7 games without being on the #1 PP unit, that's not bad at all. He could easily still hit the 40-50 point mark
That being said, I agree with him not looking that great out there. Seems off for sure.
Zaitsev has looked really good out there so far. I've been really impressed with his play.

It's not the number, it's the eye test.
Although I hate when I see Nylander float out there (which he does from time to time) his play making skills are excellent and he has great ice vision - that helps Matthew. |

Matthews numbers are lower with Willie. |

Well, of course, but I highly doubt that Matthews increased numbers this year are because of Kap. |

To be fair, they couldn't really be higher than they have been for the last 7 games. |

Maybe I just had too much to drink, but I thought I saw Gardiner make some good plays in his own zone. Maybe he's focusing more on that than the offense right now? That being said though, he's making nice passes all over the ice...doesn't really look checked out to me |

Hainsey needs to move down, Dermott needs to slide up at some point this season.
Assuming we roll with the same D all year:
Gardiner Rielly
Dermott Zaitsev
Hainsey Oz
Hainsey is fine on static D on the PK, but can't keep up on speedy transitional plays and puck retrieval in his own end against top lines.
Gardiner and Rielly play well together; they were excellent against WAS two years ago.
Dermott would be a good fit with Z I think; Z can break the cycle, Dermott steps up well and is pretty good on the break-out/transitional plays.
Hainsey would still get prime PK minutes, be part of a solid bottom pairing. |

I've seen him around the Habs thread the other day.
He didn't look great.
So yeah, nothing new from him. |

I am pretty sure that Matthews numbers over the past 2 years are higher without Willie on his line. But Willies numbers are far higher while on Matthews line.
I believe. I think. |

So is Quebec the only province that will be dumb enough to legally prevent people from smoking weed anywhere in the public area? Or are every provinces that stupid? |

He's not dating material, but if you're looking for someone to bang, knock out with a tire iron and toss in a dumpster behind Walmart, he's your guy. |
