and that's it in a nut shell... Nylander really doesn't have any choices that help him.... he sits out a year... he's in much worse shape - and I can't imagine the Leafs management would love that. I would think his best option is a relatively cheap 2-3 year deal, which entices the Leafs to keep him.

btw.... St. Louis just lost Stastny for 3 months (or thereabouts), they are relative slow team, Willy would look excellent in their line-up.

I'm starting to sound like UG.......

no...its not that bad.

St. Louis has looked very slow in the early going however (I am sure it was St Louis I was watching... even Bozak looked quick on that team)

And, they re-signed him.

Good game to be at last night. Box seat ?

Great game to be at.
Went out to dinner with a client, had a couple bottles of Ridge Lytton Springs then off to the game! Was sitting corner golds!

In all fairness, the above is completely correct.
Nylander isnt worth anymore than 6.5 imo.

- Fakepartofme

comes back exactly to the initial discussions from late last season... somewhere between Ehlers 6Mx7 and Pastrnak 6.6x5

People are dumb, they base their opinion after 1-2 games. They expect them to look like superstars right off the hop. If they don't, they're a bust.
- LeafGuy89

It works both ways, after a few decent games people think hes a superstar that could replace willie.
I dont recall anyone saying he was only going to be an ahler, most said a quality bottom 6 guy. I thought a 3rd liner who could play 2nd line when needed.
Its only been a couple of games, hes looked good playing with the best. Will it hold up over the course of a season...we'll see.
But great game by the leafs and sparks last night.

At this point, I think the Leafs still need to hold firm on the long term deal and not go with a bridge deal. If Nylander outplays the bridge deal, which he likely will, we will have the same issue again in 2-3 years.

overall pretty good game... and despite Sparks being a career AHLer... he looked like he elevated his play over the Chicago game, made a couple or three really tough saves as well.

I like what I saw from Oz and Zaitsev last night as well. Gardiner looks "checked out" to me. This whole parenting thing might be too much for him, and with Rielly getting the primo PowerPlay spot .. .Gardiner ain't getting 50 pts this year.

If we win a cup in that time, it wont matter.
You can then trade him for a position of need.
But yes long term would be better

Sparks looked so much better, calm and better positioning.
Gardiner needs to be moved out. Hes just really bad at D.
