I feel bad for him. I mean, not really bad, he is going to be paid millions for playing a game... but in the context of playing a professional sport, he is either going to be the lowest paid of the top 4, or he is going to not get a chance to play with this young core.

He kinda got screwed over by timing.

Nylander should have taken the deal, whatever it was.

That's almost Lundqvist #'s
- 21peter

It’s better than Lundqvist’s numbers when he plays against the Leafs.

so do we like sparks now errr??
- Arctic_AARDVARK

nope.
Leafs defense played really well.
Sparks played a good game, nothing more.

people in here put Johnsson on 1st line with Matthews before start of this season.
after Chicago game, most on here said "Sparks suckkssssss" and "Trade Sparks!!!"
now all of a sudden he's a hero again..

objectively, Sparks is not good enough to be in NHL.
His rebound control is way too bad.

Sparks looked good, team hung in there despite some lopsided reffing.

Goals are starting to spread around and Kadri's line hasn't even got going yet. 4th line looks capable of playing in the right end of the rink too.

Best of all, big mouth Doughty was on the ice for 3 goals against.

- gravyface

Didn't they get the least pp mins last year.

I was afraid that the powerplay would be so good, it would just make the refs hesitant to give them opportunities... again this year

He should've taken the original deal, which was probably Pastrnak's deal and Pasta's the better player.

well we don't know what the deal actually was, but yeah, I bet the situation is not getting better for him day to day. I seriously doubt Dubas is increasing his offer, either long term or on a bridge deal.

8 years at 6.875 per. From what I've heard, that's the deal he turned down.

That's a great deal for both. I think he's gonna be dealt, to be honest. I can't see the Leafs going higher.

Yeah, not quite ready to believe he is a good NHL goalie yet.

... and did anyone else think the shots on goal were hugely misleading? The Leafs never looked out of control in this one.

Remember when UG wanted Vermette instead of Lindholm?
- Steven_Seagull

He's playing as the 3rd line LW, not the 4C so...

I also didn't say Lindholm would suck. I said he had never played on North American ice and was unproven and an unknown. It's also game 7. Players who come from Europe tend to hit a wall at game 45-50 like Borgman did last year because they aren't use to playing 82 games a year. Same with Ozhiganov.

In fairness, Lindholm looks way better on the wing, at least at this point.

Outside of Gauthier, our 4C options look pretty thin.

No, it was pretty accurate. LA dominated a lot of the offensive zone, they just lack finishing ability. It would be ideal if the Leafs played like LA to take the pressure off their D and goalie and with their deadly shooters, they'd score even more than they already do.

Dion cares though.

If that was the deal, I doubt it is now. It isn't so much that Kapanen has proven to be effective SO FAR, it is also that Matthews and Marner are making themselves more valuable, pretty much every game.

Holy (frank) dude what more do you need to see? A shutout? Sparks scoring a empty net goal? He played well tonight and was there to bail out his defense a few times.

Yeah same here but he played a good game tonight.

The team in general had their best game of the year tonight. Hardly any sloppy plays by the defense. Ozhiganov is looking better each game too.

If they can play like this on a consistent basis, I feel bad for the other teams

He didn't let in the goals but he still looking terribly shaky. Way too much movement, spent half the time out of position and swimming all over.
