I didn't even catch that.

You didn't catch the enormous 19 and 4" letters saying "Brassard" in the middle of the window before the video even starts?? Are you sure you don't indulge?

I was paying attention to the tv in the video and then when he ripped his shirt off like an anorexic hulk

There's still plenty of games left for the jumbotron to shake lose and crush him into a puddle of human entrails and Leafs-print pajamas.

How funny would it be if he got the game winner in the game in April to knock you guys out of a wild card spot.

It would be the literal least-surprising thing ever. It's the Islanders we're talking about, you can almost guarantee something like that will happen.

I think I'm gonna get tickets to his first game back in NY in Feb because I want to hear how loudly he gets booed and see how many metric-tons of trash covers the Barclays' ice. god help them if the Islanders are stupid enough to slap together some sort of stupid-ass 'welcome-back' highlight video. The place will implode if they do that.

Jokes and not-serious wishes of death aside, it's literally going to be a safety concern. Islander fans have been kicked when they're down (which is almost always) and dragged through the mud for almost my entire life. Until Barzal last year he was pretty much the lone bright spot about the organization and then he bailed.

People are going to go insane if they are forced to sit there and watch the Islanders publicly thank him. I really think the game is going to be delayed for 15 minutes because the ice crew is going to have to come out and clean 8ft of garbage off the rink.

I'm not disagreeing that the "right" thing to do would be to thank the guy for his service and dedication, but the reality is that it's a horrible idea for so many reasons. They can go meet with him and thank him personally, in private, if they really need to express their feelings.

I agree with and understand what you're saying. I just don't see how they end up not honoring him. But in any case I might be tuning in to see the aftermath.

They very well might. From the outside looking in it would look pretty immature and childish to blow him off publicly. I totally get that and won't be surprised if they do end up doing something.

If they were smart they would just put up a still picture for 10 seconds with "Thank you, John" written on it and move on. If they put together a 90 second highlight package that everyone is forced to sit through then it's going to be 90 seconds of booing and garbage-throwing.

I'm with JR on this one, I can't imagine they do nothing. I mean they brought Cairns on the ice as some kind of past great player.

See above, I don't disagree about the reality of it happening. Just saying it's going to prove to have been a terrible idea after the fact.

Let's hope Mackinnon has a career night because...

A.) I have him in my money league

B.) You know the rest.

Then you would not be able to cheer the 1 playoff series victory the team has had in 25 years. That's a horrible catch 22.

Maybe they do something on their social media and make an in arena announcement for fans wishing to see the tribute to view it there. That would make sense and be smart.
