What I'm saying is that it is easy for joe fan, or joe media to say "hell yeah, if that were me out there I would have settled the score" or stuck up for my guy or whatever. It is quite a different thing to do that. I bet that of all the people on here on a handful of you have actually ever been face to face throwing hay makers fight. As this is a hockey site, the number is probably slightly higher than normal, but I guarantee that the number is lower than 100% of you cum guzzlers (thanks Chompsey, needed to borrow that to add levity)

Also, Stormsey, not calling you out, calling Botch out, unless you are Botch...

oh come on. is being in a fight really that rare? no, it isn't. most guys have been in several in their lives. hopefully that decreases as you get older but still...

being in a fight, doesn't mean you think you'll win.

but having been in a fight, you also know that you're not going to die. seriously, getting punched in the face while you punch face is not the end of the freaking world... especially during a hockey game.

really, is the concept of fighting such a foreign concept to everyone here?

(and no, i don't get into fistfights regularly but growing up, it wasn't a big deal.)

The internet is full of tough guys. I think most people have not been in a real fight. As I said, being that this particular forum is full of passionate hockey fans, who likely have played at varying levels, that percentage will be higher. Being 13 behind the gym at 3 pm with half the school watching a couple kids throw a few punches and wrestle around does not qualify.

Personally I used to fight, a lot. My and the boys would go hang out at the clubs at closing time with some prospects and 'keep' order.

Stopped doing that stupid poop over a decade ago but learned that the men with the biggest mouths, who made the biggest threats and stood at the front of their crews playing with bravado were more likely to tuck tail and run as soon as you stepped into their crowd and started breaking bottles.

Edit: I'm not proud of that time in my life, lots of drugs and loose woman, but lost some friends, lots of friends had broken bits and teeth missing from it. My Good friend was crow barred in revenge after I hurt a dude and his friends tried to run me over on the sidewalk, smashed windows and sawed off pool cues. I was luckier then most, scares around my eyes and a pinky finger that's numb most days from landing wrong are my only long term damage. Anyone who brags about kicking someone's ass is either full of poop or is a drunk kid. Those of us who've been in the trenches and seen some poop know that it's not glamorous, even if it's necessary sometimes.

Nilsson facing shots at one end while Markstrom works with Ian Clark at the other during #Canucks optional skate. Looks like third straight Nilsson start, but that’s not confirmed yet

it still surprises me that school is the extent of fighting experience for some.

oh for sure.

the "hold me back guys" are always the worst and usually in the front... until the fight starts.

but if you've been in a fight, you also know that sometimes engaging is as good as winning. put another way... know when to step up and not back down.

How could green go with Marky after 2 straight wins? With no back to backs, I don't think Markstrom gets another start until they loose.

We had one guy who would start something everybody but not end I'll in the tank with us or sport bruises, turns out he'd throw a sucker then hide, as soon as we stopped having his back he couldn't go out in nanaimo anymore because he started getting jumped, people have long memories.

As a guy who has been in fights in the streets and fights on the ice, I can easily say that I'd rather not see it. Its barbaric. Its been said over and over again, the guys on the nice did not see it happen in the moment. So what are you expecting? (not you Vinty)

On the ice, if I saw my guy ran, I'd go with anyone - rational thoughts to me head shut off. But I've also turned down my share of fight requests. I've been scared on the ice.

That said, I will not stand down from the fact that they need a guy to police on the ice - hypocritical I know. But you need your stars to be stars and not have to worry about taking cheap shots....

Also, win or lose, the letdown of adrenaline after a fight always made me cry, from the first time I swung at one of my 3 older brothers to the last time I swung on a dealer who spilled his drink on me. 15 minutes later I was shaking and shuddering in my arms and my eyes were filled with tears, not sobbing.... something different, only some will get that.

Had buddies who used to do the same poop. Not me, avoided it as much as possible. Not worth getting hurt or killed.

Pretty much sums it up.

Even without Matt Murray in net, I'm hoping for a breakout for the Brockstar tonight. He was awesome against Pittsburgh last year.

Trying to move on from talk of retribution, in the new blog:
