Watch for Sparks? Sounds like a Ek rumour.
We don’t play again till Thursday. Why are we expecting him to play. Our backup didn’t play other than back to backs last year. Was there a morning skate or an announcement from babs?
Also. Watch for a blog from mike. 3....2...1....

Honest questions for the leafs fan base here, what do you think the matthews extension is going to look like? I have a hard time believing that there is a bridge deal available because the deal that Mcdavid/Driasital took kinda blew up the bridge deal market (to some extent) the high end studs. Interested to hear yalls take.

I hope it looks like the mathematical average between Tavares' and McDavid's contract. If Matthews ends up with 100+ points this year tho... I could see him getting 12.5 or more x8.

it would be something special to see Matthews take 11x8

a true leader and team player and Leaf for life.

thats interesting. The Leafs traded for Dion when he was 24, same age as Dumba now.

Thats the risk in a deal like this, it could turn out pretty bad..if you dont get a top D who can play at a high level for the next 5+ years. Cuz Nylander will be a top line player for the next 7 or 8

So everyone agrees that the bridge deal option really isnt there for Matthews correct? Just a matter of if he shaves a little of the top to fit in the rest of the guys or if he goes for the gold so to speak and tries to get max value.

What baffles me is that Nylander claims that he is doing what's right for him and that he is leaving it in the hands of his agent. At some point shouldn't he be thinking... "Hey, This isn't working... Time for Plan B"

- .HOHO.

Maybe waiting for a losing streak? The need to string some L's together for fans to panic properly and call for Dubas to just get it done...he's not exactly bargaining from a position of strength at the moment. The only thing he's proven this season is that the team can manage without him.

I think that everybody else's contracts get negotiated (from management's perspective) such that they have the cap space to sign Matthews for as much money and term as possible.

Indeed. My god this team would look amazing with Nylander on Kadri's wing though.

If they could get a true number 2 that would be great. I think dumba would be a strong 3 who could easily fill the 2 spot.
Every trade has its risk.
Hopefully willie signs and we have no worries about this.

wonder what happens if Kapanen goes off this year as well, id assume a bridge deal to make the money work but with the way the contracts are going now there is no guarantee he will go that route.

I've heard from nobody credible that apparently Nylander v Dubas has moved into bridge territory.

A 3-5 year deal will be fine if he takes less money

have to think a bridge deal would almost guarantee he is gone at the end of the bridge because of the uptick in cost. There is just so much talent on that team and it all needs money.

If he earns a big raise them maybe he's traded, if he earns a moderate raise then maybe the increase in cap takes care of it
