Only difference was Pettersen is like 160lbs soaken wet and got manhandled. That's not a knock on pettersen just a reality. Is gudbranson not in the lineup? If so I'm surprised he never did anything. Usually clean or dirty if a guy gets hit hard there's a reaction.

Edit: also lots of people are complaining about the hit. I read the comments before seeing it and was expecting the most disgusting dispicable thing you could imagine and then I seen it and the guy got pushed hard.

Agreed. This crap isn’t hockey. I’ve been playing and watching for 50 years now; share in seasons tickets since 1990. I don’t pay to see the goons. I have tickets when Edmonton comes to toronto this season. I don’t need some idiot taking out McDavid so I can’t watch him. Until the NHL takes it seriously and gives out 40-80 game range suspensions it won’t stop. Also the NHLPA needs to stand
Up for the injured player not the perpetrator. Tying suspensions to injury doesn’t work. Lets the player get away with a reckless act if there isn’t an injury. Punishment needs to be based on the stupidity and recklessness of the act.

I disagree. They don’t allow fights in other physical sports and they don’t have the same problem with stupid plays like this or stupid retaliation crap like the Moore Bertuzzi incident. The whole European dirtynplaymthing is a
Myth. They don’t have near the same level of stupid injuries like it is claimed. In all other sports the players have had to learn to control dangerous play even with strong spur of the moment emotions running high. They have done it because such idiocy is not tolerated. NHL players would do so too. This is on the NHL and the NHLPA.

Honestly I don't see anything dirty about the play at all. Doesn't hit him in the head, yes gives him a bit of a crosscheck to knock him into the boards, but nothing more than a 2 minute penalty in my view. Calling it predatory is a huge stretch, the puck came back down low to Pettersson, what's he supposed to do, just let him get the puck while staring at him? Pettersson needs to learn to toughen up and not be such a p***y.

It was a body slam. I played d all my life and petterson was off balance and he took advantage its easy to do if you want to, Matheson had a tough game getting beat constantly.
