I love the idea of accountability. Under AV we questioned their compete level more often than not. My fear is that guys getting scratched or benched for a mistake takes us back to players like Buch being afraid to be creative or always looking over their shoulder.

I don't think we are there yet and I have a lot more confidence in Quinn than AV

I remember in 1980-81 they started off 4-14-4 after 20 games or something

this could rival that start

no matter how hard they are playing, this record at the 20 game mark could look really ugly

Too bad this isn't during McDavid's draft year. Instead they get Eichel light apparently.

Jack Hughes is setting scoring records in a USA program that produced the likes of Kane, Matthews, Keller and Eichel. The last 3 a little more recent.

So is it just me that sees this whole Petterson thing as being so blown out of proportion. Unfortunate injury, but a play almost all defenseman do during a game.

The hit is fine. It's when Matheson throws Pettersson to the ice , that is when it gets a little dicey. The puck is gone. No need to drive him to the ice.

Yeah but defenseman have been doing that for ages. Not necessary but I think more unfortunate that Petterson weighs as much as an empty cardboard box.

Yeah but the days where that was acceptable was ages ago. The dude bodyslammed Petterson and will deserve whatever he gets.

Ok but is late. The a resonable amount of time passed to make it reviewable. Pettersson expects to get hit. He takes the hit and moves the puck. What he doesn't expect is for Matheson to shove him to the ice after the puck is gone. It's it the worse incdient ever, no. Give Matheson 2 games and move on.

Yeah you can't blame Pettersson there. He sees Matheson, he knows Matheson is gonna hit him. He puts himself in resonable postion to be a hit and make a play.

He was 15ft away from the puck and he threw him into the ice It's not even close to defensible, I don't care how many hands he used. Something tells me if Gudas did that to Chytil you would feel differently.

edit: and this was the most comical explanation ever from his agent

Just talked with Matheson's agent Kent Hughes, "It was an unfortunate incident that led to an injury of a great young player. To say Mike was out for retribution is crazy. Mike was surprised at how light Pettersson was, it happened pretty quick.

No, as much as I hate Gudas it wouldn't be dirty. Pushing a player to the ice with one hand is not dirty.

That's very clearly not just a push and it wasn't even relevant to the play. Had the puck been in Pettersson's feet then someone could make a reasonable argument that they were battling...not only was he interfering with him, he drives him into the ice which was completely unnecessary I know you're not gonna budge, but I don't even think it's a matter of opinion.

What a world. Tell me this team isn't trying to lose games. I love it.
