Why did he fall so far? I know a lot of drafts had him in the top 20. He might be ready for you guys once Boychuk's contract is up in 2035. - mdw7413
Gotta make sure Mayfield gets his 39th chance to stick on the roster first.
He's got elite offense/skating but I think there is a ton left to be desired on the defensive side of the puck for him. He plays really physical defensively but I think he makes a lot of questionable decisions that lead to lowlight-reel plays for him. I think there was also some "character" questions because he decommitted from Michigan and decided to go to the OHL which, frankly, was probably the right decision.
If he can play passable defense in the NHL he could still be a really good player. His rushes are unreal.

Well the fact that the league seems to be going for much more offensive minded defenseman will help his cause.
Its funny how much that position has changed probably more than any other except goaltending since I have been watching. A team was lucky if they had 2 defenseman that where very good offensively. Now its like you need 3 or 4

Yeah, defense has changed a ton. The 6'6" stay-at-home guys are dead and size is far less important. I don't even think offensive production is as important as skating is. Guys that are solid in the skating/speed departments and can exit the zone with control of the puck make transition games killer for opponents to deal with. |

Quinn is older, he can't be on that team?
Wait, I'm talking about the US team, You are talking about Michigan - mdw7413
Jack played for the US U18 in that game on Friday. Obviously Quinn plays for Michigan.
I haven't seen much of Jack yet Matt, so not totally sure on your question. The US program is based out of Plymouth, so definitely going to check him out at some point.

Yeah good point, maybe not so much points as skating and puck handling |

Buch been pretty invisible again lately. I have no issue with it. Its not like we lose the cup if Buch gets benched. |

No doubt. I was rooting for them to win pretty hard on Saturday. I have no interest in giving up on the season 15 games in, but who knows, that may happen. |

When it's game five of the season, and you are already hoping that the Rangers lose and certain other supposedly poopty teams in the league win, that's a bit much (and more than a little annoying).

No. Don't tell the Rangers are trying to win when McLeod is in the line up. Av did the same thing and it was part of why he was fired.
Stop the facade and just say we don't want to win. |

I love the idea of accountability. Under AV we questioned their compete level more often than not. My fear is that guys getting scratched or benched for a mistake takes us back to players like Buch being afraid to be creative or always looking over their shoulder.
I don't think we are there yet and I have a lot more confidence in Quinn than AV |
