His head rammed into the glass just above the boards. Is Lindblom a midget? - MJL
No, but he uses a low skating stance on the entire play. Also, McNabb is 3 inches taller. However, this is not the point.
The hit on Lindblom was illegal. At no point on the play was McNabb seeing anything but Lindblom’s numbers. He was a step behind and unable to catch Lindblom until Lindblom stops alters direction. McNabb effectively targets the head of Lindblom by extending his arm up and outward significantly, placing his forearm at the head of Lindblom, and drives Lindblom’s head into the boards with his bent elbow/forearm using extreme force of his entire body weight. The head is the main point of contact.
It was a dangerous, dirty, reckless hit.

Much of what you state here is completely wrong on my opinion. The head is the principle point of contact, more like the neck area. What made it dangerous was how Lindholm changed direction at the last second and lowered his body to where his head was lower than it normally would be. It's clear as day on the replay.

And what you’re saying is 100% wrong in my opinion. As I have previously stated, Lindblom’s height was not changed significantly after he altered directions. In other words, his head was always low on the play. It IS clear as day on the replay too. In your hypothetical world that Lindblom doesn’t change directions, at best McNabb hits him from behind. Changing from one vulnerable position to another hardly has any barring on this being a bad hit. He was vulnerable the whole time, the onus is on the hitter not to target the head. |

Limdblom does not skate hunched over with his head 4 feet off the ice. Lindblom's actions significantly changed where his head was on the play. You're eliminating those actions from the outcome of the hit. |

No, you are pretending that the height his head was while skating changed, and it didn’t! And I have no intention of attacking the victim of this dangerous hit for his low skating style. Again the hitter is taller than him. You are, in fact, missing the whole point—the hitter very clearly targets the head from behind, as he was in fact behind him the whole play. You don’t see a play just like this very often since most players don’t hit from behind and know not to target the opponent’s head.
You keep talking about Lindblom turning, so what? Would it have been better to get pushed head first. A hit under this circumstance was illegal too.
I did misspeak slightly calling the smash point the boards when it was the glass part. I was using the term boards broadly.

Once again not the point, but if I had to guess... the top of his helmet looks 58 to 59 inches off the ice. If the boards are approximately 42 inches where the glass meets; then Lindblom’s neck, head, and helmet measure about 16 inches tall.
Completely irrelevant!

Wow, quiet in here. Pretty bad when the Flyers can’t even generate any interest from the most die-hard of die-hard fans. It was hard to tell from watching the game on tv, but it looked like there were a lot of empty seats yesterday. I wonder if Flyers ownership/management is concerned by the lack of interest in this team. |

Will always love them, but have to admit seasons of Hak hockey are sucking the life out of me hah.
(Regular season only)
Fred Shero - 554 games
Mike Keenan - 320 games
Peter Laviolette - 272 games
Paul Holmgren - 264 games
John Stevens - 263 games
Pat Quinn - 262 games
Ken Hitchcock - 254 games
Hak - 251
If he stays to the end of the year he moves into 3rd. |
